Whether you're planning days of outdoor pursuits or scenic steam railway rides, your holiday in Mid Wales should be off to a flying start at Henllan Caravan Park. This family-friendly site first opened in the 1960s, and it has grown into a very gorgeous spot to set down on the banks of the Banwy river, with fishing available in the river and a play area set up for those guests who have brought the whole family along. A golf course is 10 minutes’ drive away for any keen golfers and the surrounding Powys landscape has many opportunities for things like mountain biking, swimming, climbing and hiking for all the adventurous types. Shops and that sort of thing can be tracked down in Welshpool, 10 minutes’ drive away. This historic town has some gorgeous Georgian buildings and the Montgomery Canal for a peaceful stroll or you could look in on the National Trust’s Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) while you’re around there. For more nostalgic activities, the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway is five minutes’ drive from the site. Back at your riverside site, there’s a shower block ready for you to freshen up. The pitches themselves are all well-maintained and flat with great views, so your stay should be both comfortable and scenic. Please note that the facilities block is approximately 300 yards from the main pitching area. Gas and electric cooking stoves are welcome on site.

Ωραίο, ήσυχο μέρος με θέα στο ποτάμι. Φιλικό προσωπικό, μεγάλα σημεία, καλές παροχές για παιδιά & σκύλους. Μακριά η τουαλέτα/ντους, λίγα κατά την αιχμή. Η παμπ είναι δημοφιλής.

Μου άρεσε Great place, with the river running alongside and a playground to play in.
The camping grounds are quite flat and spacious, but most importantly drained well and stayed relatively dry, and not muddy, despite a lot of rain when we were there.
Everywhere appeared well maintained and I didn't see much litter.
The pub has a good, really social atmosphere and gives good value food. Staff and the hosts of the campsite were friendly.

Δεν μου άρεσε Toilet block is a fairly long trek from camping field and a little small with only 1 shower, 1 sink and two toilets. Strangely as this put it in the middle of the static caravans. Definite need for a portacabin or a compost toilet or something nearer to the camping field entrance.
No shop on site.

Μου άρεσε Great atmosphere and lovely bar run by Caz and Alby. Really social atmosphere and good value food by Zac.
The camping grounds are large, flat and not boggy despite the rain.
Nice setting with the river running through.

Δεν μου άρεσε Toilet block is a little trek from camping pitches and only 1 shower and two toilets. Definitely geared more towards the statics on site who have their own facilities…
No shop on site, but Welshpool is only about 6 miles away for and restocking needed.

Μου άρεσε Loved the space and quietness of the site. Kids loved the access to the river / stream and the rope swings. This was our 3rd stay this year and will definitely return again.

Μου άρεσε Lovely site with Friendly owners. There is a great park for younger children and the older ones loved having the river to explore. We had a spacious pitch and never felt crowded. There is so much space here for children to play and there is a dog park here also. We would love to return next summer.

Δεν μου άρεσε The toilets/shower and pot wash area are a far walk away from the camping area. We were aware of this before we arrived and it wouldn't put us off returning but it was a bit inconvenient.

Μου άρεσε Friendly owners, very clean site, liked that it had a secure children's play park, a great breakfast van at weekends also the pub at weekends,
The owners were there on the field to meet & greet new arrivals and were happy to lend out bits of camping equipment if needed. Ie extention leads. We had a brilliant week there visiting local attractions.

Δεν μου άρεσε Although certainly not a complaint ...
The toilets were kept very clean but only 1 shower, 1 sink ( this was an issue when someone was washing or brushing teeth and you needed to wash your hands after using toilet ) there were only 2 toilets which were very busy at times, & were quite a walk away from the main touring field and with young children the walk there and back was continuous ...

Μου άρεσε It was a lovely place to stay. It is only 15 minutes from the town centre and you can reach most sights easily.
The wardens are great. They are ever relaxed and welcoming.

Δεν μου άρεσε It smells a bit, and the facilities are 300 yards away from the camping ground which is not great. I believe the new wardens are looking into this, however!

The Henllan Pub was not our cup of tea, but good if you like social clubs that smell like 30 years of spilt beer!

Μου άρεσε The site is well maintained and the wardens were lovely and very helpful.
The static caravan owners were also very friendly all saying hello or waving from their caravans. Their is a little on site pub which offers simple meals and a van that does breakfast baps with a tea or coffee! Loved that we could get some chips from the pub to go with the food we were cooking at the tent. Note the pub is the other end of the park so no noise from the pub!
We also liked the book swap by the washing facilities

Δεν μου άρεσε The toilet block is a distance away from the camping field in the middle of the static caravans. The walk to the toilet is not fun at 3am ! Needs more showers also as only 1 shower in the ladies and same in the men's.
Also the washing up facilities are at the toilet block which is not ideal carrying dirty dishes etc through the park to wash them up.

With Eryri/Snowdonia National Park to the west and the Shropshire Hills National Landscape to the south-east, there’s a lot of hiking accessible from this site. You could set your compass towards Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes' drive), just outside of Snowdonia, for a day of lakeside walks, watersports and cycling followed by a cream tea – or perhaps head up towards Pistyll Rhaeadr (45 minutes) for a four-mile hike with a reward in the form of a spectacular waterfall. Add some historical elements to your holiday in the Shropshire Hills National Landscape. The Mitchell's Fold Stone Circle (35 minutes) still stands from the Bronze Age and the moorlands of the surrounding Stapeley Hill make for another splendid walk. Then there are the Stiperstones (45 minutes), a cool ridge that's made up of rocks that are hundreds of millions of years old – another place for a good long wander. When you’re ready to muck into the rural way of life, head to Park Hall The Countryside Experience (40 minutes), a farm with play areas that has opened its doors for families to get involved in animal activities like meeting the alpacas or watching the pig racing.
