Positiv Good flat pitches with plenty of shelter. Wifi throughout with masts on the washing up blocks.
Great location, 5 minutes walk to the harbour with shops, restaurants, things to do.
Pub on site for a few drinks and a game of darts while the phones charge up.
Nice clean toilets and showers, I never had to queue.
Helpful and pleasant staff on hand.

Positiv Lovely friendly site, nice welcome when we checked in.
It's a "pop up" so the toilets and showers are in a container but they all worked and were cleaned to a reasonable standard.
There's a bar on site with some fire pits and chairs so it's a nice spot itlf you want to be social.
Very close to the lake (my son ran from the top of the site to the lake in 2 minutes) with a little pebble shore to launch from.
We really liked this site and may well go back.
Negativ Just make sure you use the link in the booking email or what3words to find the site. Google got confused as the Graythwaite estate is quite large.

Positiv Stayed here for one night on a cycle camping trip with my son. Big dry field with hedges all around providing shelter. A couple of portaloos in one corner and a drinking water tap in the other. Perfect for what we needed.
Good pre-arrival communication from David the landowner who had moved the site to a better drained field after heavy rain the week before. He came and said Hello when we'd arrived which is always nice.

Positiv I was Bikepacking with my son and we just wanted somewhere to stop for the night and this was along our route. It's a very basic site, just a large flat field surrounded by trees for shelter, with some portaloos at one end and a drinking water tap at the other end. It was just what we were looking for but don't expect many amenities there.
No staff on site but the owners came round at about 6pm to say Hello and make sure there were no problems. They came by at about 8am too to check the loos etc.
The notice board said there was a pub about 20 minute walk away but unfortunately it's closed Mondays which is when we were there.
We'd definitely go again if we were in the area just looking for somewhere to stop.

Grasbewachsener Zelt-Stellplatz ohne Stromanschluss
Positiv We've stayed here a few times now, we actually tried to book in 2021 but it was full, so set your dates in advance.
The site is perfectly situated on the main road A66 about half way between Penrith and Keswick, so it's very convenient and easy to find.
There are 2 toilet blocks, 1 with showers in. There are also 2 separate covered washing-up areas. There's a nice little playground for younger kids with a little tv lounge overlooking it which has a fridge, kettle and microwave too. So you can sit in the warm and give your phone a bit of a charge while the kids are just outside.
The toilets and showers are spotless and the staff/owners are visible out and about on site with branded polo tops on in case you want to chat to them.
Lovely views of the hills from the site, really nice to wake up to.

Grasbewachsener Zelt-Stellplatz ohne Stromanschluss
Positiv The site is easy to find, good location just off the A66
It's less than 10 minutes into Keswick, so there's lots of things to do nearby.
Negativ No greeting or reception from the owner, just a whiteboard saying to pitch up anywhere. There was a mobile phone number written on the wall of the shower block but it had been scribbled over. We stayed 4 nights and never saw the owner.
The shower and toilet block was well maintained and quite clean. However there were only 2 male toilets and 2 female toilets to provide for a very large camp site covering 4 fields. There were long queues (around the inside of the building and out the door) for toilets, showers, and washing up even in the early hours of the morning.
The site is on a hillside which can't be helped but the toilet block was at the top of the hill. The only flat pitches were in the bottom of the valley which meant a long, uphill trek to the loo. I'm reasonably fit and timed it at 8 minutes each way, my wife's fitbit put it at a 2,000 step round trip. Not what you want if you're taking young kids to the loo, need to go in the middle of the night, or if you're sore from a day of climbing or hiking.
Other campers told us there were firepits available for £10 a night - not a £10 deposit but a £10 a night fee for use of a firepit. Extortionate!

Positiv Very large and flat field to pitch in. Lots of room.
New, Clean toilet and shower blocks with some extra portaloos at the other end of the field for those pitched further away.
Firepits and logs available.
Friendly owners.
Lots to do within 10-15 minutes drive.
Negativ Very little to complain about here, but The Perfect Campsite would have a pub within walking distance.
