Set between Padstow and Newquay, and 15 minutes' drive away from each, Trewan Hall Camping Site should be a lovely little place for a Mid Cornwall break. The site has been developed on an old Cornish estate around the 17th-century mansion of Trewan Hall, and carefully maintained with traditional building techniques to blend in with its 36-acre woodland and garden surroundings. And speaking of gardens, they’re lush – have a look at the site pics… For families, the Hill family has added all sorts of little touches. During the high season only, there's a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool open from 10am to 6pm. Evening entertainment is also on throughout July. Available at all times is a large field for ball games in front of the Hall, a wooden playground and a library and writing room. Barns have also been set aside for table tennis, with an additional barn housing a pool table set for teenagers and adults. When it's time to sit down with a snack of some kind, head to the fully-stocked shop, which is open nearly 14 hours per day in high season (with shorter hours in low season). There are two different areas to pick a pitch from at Trewan Hall Camping Site: one aimed at families near the play park, shop and barns, and the other more secluded in a bigger field – in both, you can pitch up where you like to have plenty of room, with the owners managing bookings so that there are always more pitches than people and what’s on offer never feels overcrowded.

Syntes om Shower and toilet facilities were good. Nice location, and ideally placed if doing the Sustrans Lands End to John O’Groats ride. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Really nice chill out room where you can charge devices, and also a shop on site.

Syntes om Trewan Hall is a amazing place to stay and exceeded all my expectations. It offers a lot more than just a camping site for both adults and children. If you like history and old buildings this is the place to stay. The grounds are amazing and well kept.

Syntes om The grounds where very nice but very disappointed that there was nothing to do eg swimming pool etc even the shop was limited opening hours no food vans the nights that it had said on the website we had payed a lot of money for the 5 nights that we stayed if we had understood all this we would have gone elsewhere as a lot of other sites was operating as normal business

I'm glad you enjoyed the grounds and am sorry that we weren't at our full offering of facilities when you visited.

Our pool, entertainment and food night dates are all listed on the pitch-up descriptio. You will have been charged low season rates if you visited us during September when these things finish.

If you are looking for a quiet getaway September is a great time to visit but if you want a trip with lots on then the kids half term, July and August are the times for you.

Syntes om What a wonderful spot to camp. So unique and beautiful. We straddled the high season with low so was great to use the pool but also have the campsite to ourselves. What a shame the family are selling. I loved the original 70s mosaic in the pool changing rooms! Don't get rid of that!

Syntes om The entertainment and it was good to have the open of freshly prepared fresh food on site to. Very welcoming, we had no issues at all but I am very confident that they would have been really helpful if we had.

Syntes om Nice tidy clean site plenty of space on every pitch not restrictive at all with parking on pitch too. Clean and tidy showers and toilets and a on site pool which is life guarded was also clean and warm too. Campfires allowed with obviously sensible usage. We enjoyed a week stay there and teen kids thought was great campsite

Syntes ikke om Arrival instructions not really adequate, signage for the site is terrible, and it’s not obvious what to do or where to go at all. Every entrance is marked as private, so you’re not sure if you’re supposed to go in or not.

Syntes om Had a fabulous time at Trewan Hall. As our kids are getting older (14, 14, 12, 9) we wanted a site with plenty of options but not a holiday park! Trewan Hall is perfect.

Lovely space with lots to do for the kids, with the swimming pool a big winner in the day, and all the children seemed to join in games of manhunt in the evenings.

We took our dog, who had a great time. Whilst she was on lead while on the site, there is a small woodland area where we could let her off for a run around.

The staff are particularly pleasant and I was very impressed with the younger (teenage) staff, who were polite, responsive, knowledgable, and eager to help.

The shop is small but well stocked with food, drinks, kids toys and games, and plenty of camping essentials also - as well as fresh pastries and pasties.

The evening entertainment was always good quality and a good variety, we had sea shanties and synth pop - we missed the Rock night.

We’ll certainly be returning next year.

Rutevejledning

The site advises that you take the Talskiddy turning off the A39 (towards St Eval and St Mawgan). The estate is the second and third left after that turning. Those with long vehicles should enter via the first entrance you come to. Please park on the large cobbled area and walk over to reception. All other arrivals should take the second entrance, which leads directly to reception. Please park in the car park provided.

Trewan Hall is near the centre of Cornwall with easy access to the north coast beaches and within easy driving distance of most of Cornwall’s attractions. For a short stroll, head into the old market town of St Columb Major (five minutes' drive), where there’s a 15th-century church, surf store, antique shop and fish and chip shops. The closest beach to Trewan Hall is Mawgan Porth (10 minutes). Gorgeous Watergate Bay is 10 minutes’ drive away, or head to the seven bays clustered around the village of St Merryn (15 minutes), a few miles from Padstow. Two top Cornwall spots within 10 miles are Newquay (15 minutes), where you should wriggle into your wetsuit for some stunning surfing (surf schools are all over town and nearby for the uninitiated), and Padstow (15 minutes) for the Camel Trail and Camel Estuary Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Zipwires, biodomes and more can be had at the Eden Project (25 minutes).
