The Hall of Trewan Hall
25m heated swimming pool

The drive sweeping past the hall

  • Cornish estate set around a 17th-century mansion
  • A 36-acre woodland and garden setting 15 minutes' drive from Newquay
  • Shop, games barns, library and large field for ball games on site
Set between Padstow and Newquay, and 15 minutes' drive away from each, Trewan Hall Camping Site should be a lovely little place for a Mid Cornwall break. The site has been developed on an old Cornish estate around the 17th-century mansion of Trewan Hall, and carefully maintained with traditional building techniques to blend in with its 36-acre woodland and garden surroundings. And speaking of gardens, they’re lush – have a look at the site pics… For families, the Hill family has added all sorts of little touches. There's a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool open from 10am to 6pm. Evening entertainment is also on throughout July. Available at all times is a large field for ball games in front of the Hall, a wooden playground and a library and writing room. Barns have also been set aside for table tennis, with an additional barn housing a pool table set for teenagers and adults. When it's time to sit down with a snack of some kind, head to the fully-stocked shop, which is open nearly 14 hours per day in high season (with shorter hours in low season). There are two different areas to pick a pitch from at Trewan Hall Camping Site: one aimed at families near the play park, shop and barns, and the other more secluded in a bigger field – in both, you can pitch up where you like to have plenty of room, with the owners managing bookings so that there are always more pitches than people and what’s on offer never feels overcrowded.

What customers say

This campsite gets the thumbs up for lovely grounds, big pitches, and spick-and-span facilities with hot showers. Guests rave about the cracking pool, diverse entertainment, and well-stocked shop. Staff are always friendly and helpful, making for a chill vibe. Great spot for checking out local beaches and sights. A few peeps mentioned tricky signage and it can get busy, but mostly, it's a winner.

Electric grass pitch

Liked Lots of space to your pitch - easy to hook up to electric. Pool was amazing - my daughter learnt how to swim! Easy access on and off site. Convenient shop on site, nice entertainment. Toilets and showers kept clean. Lots to do and explore within an hours drive.

Disliked Although the site was generally extremely clean I drove over a knife on my way out and got a flat tyre - there were also old pegs left around. It would have been nice to have some more entertainment on the evenings.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked The site is nice, shop is well stocked, the bath was a great surprise for my son who dislike showers. We were on the non electric pitch and close to the park, toilet/shower facilities and park.
The park had lots to do, my son loved the train and the car. We also enjoyed the swimming pool.

Disliked The cool block freezing was hopeless, even with 2 freezers they have way too many people using them and they just didn't freeze, even overnight!
Family facilities were advertised, I'm guessing that these are in the electric field, these would have been much better for us, as my son really struggled with having to be in the facilities with everyone else.

Local attractions

Trewan Hall is near the centre of Cornwall with easy access to the north coast beaches and within easy driving distance of most of Cornwall’s attractions. For a short stroll, head into the old market town of St Columb Major (five minutes' drive), where there’s a 15th-century church, surf store, antique shop and fish and chip shops. The closest beach to Trewan Hall is Mawgan Porth (10 minutes). Gorgeous Watergate Bay is 10 minutes’ drive away, or head to the seven bays clustered around the village of St Merryn (15 minutes), a few miles from Padstow. Two top Cornwall spots within 10 miles are Newquay (15 minutes), where you should wriggle into your wetsuit for some stunning surfing (surf schools are all over town and nearby for the uninitiated), and Padstow (15 minutes) for the Camel Trail and Camel Estuary Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Zipwires, biodomes and more can be had at the Eden Project (25 minutes).
