Good things come in petite packages in Luxembourg (perhaps not surprising given the country’s pint-sized proportions). And one of those good things is the Mullerthal, also known as Little Switzerland – a peaceful place that’s a haven for walkers, cyclists and generally outdoorsy types who hike through the hills and roam along the rivers. On the banks of one of those rivers, the Sûre, and in the village of Dillingen is where you’ll find family-friendly Camping Wies-Neu. From here it’s an easy ride to the walking and cycle paths that network the region, and it’s even easier to launch a canoe out on to the river, cast your rod out in search of fish or just plonk yourself onto an inflatable and float gently down the river. If you’ve brought your small fry along, there’s a playground to keep them busy, and an entertainment team who keep the place gently abuzz with a hum of activity, including crafts, volleyball matches and table tennis tournaments by day and bingo or karaoke after hours. There’s also a popular church service held on site every Sunday morning. Any immediate nibbling needs can be taken care of at the site’s snack bar, with the shop also on hand to provide all sorts of useful bits and bobs from breakfast bread rolls to beers to accompany your evening barbecue.

Ubicació al costat del riu, parcel·les espaioses i entorn natural són molt elogiats. El personal és amable, les instal·lacions netes. Em va agradar Beautiful setting on the riverside. Great hiking from the site.

No em va agradar Lack of information and poor grey waste disposal facilities…..a smelly drain at the side of the road near reception.
Extremely busy, but to be expected in the height of summer. Our pitch was right next to the fresh water tap so there was a constant stream of people using the tap and emptying their washing up bowls etc.
Absolutely no WiFi signal.

Em va agradar We only stayed for two nights but really enjoyed the spot. Blessed by having the privilege to see a Kingfisher fishing along the opposite bank of the river on both days. Pitch was a good size and the staff were very helpful and friendly. A great spot to unwind, perhaps mess around in the river or enjoy some of the cycling routes available. Showers and toilets were clean and tidy.

Em va agradar Quiet, river was nice

No em va agradar Check in process was odd. Sign on reception door said reception was closed but the door was unlocked and there was someone in there. When we went in we did not get any greetings by the person in there so we ended up choosing a pitch ourselves like the sign said to do
No explanations on how shower tokens etc worked and we just noticed a general lack of amenities. Campground wasn't super cheap but a shower costs money.

Pottering, pedalling and paddling are all popular picks around these parts. Hardcore hikers might want to tackle the 112-kilometre Mullerthal Trail (or part of it), while cyclists in Little Switzerland have the choice of four mountain bike routes and a more placid selection of (mainly flat) national cycle routes to take them out through the wildflower meadows. For aquatic antics, there’s a canoe and kayak rental place five minutes’ walk from the site; a popular route is the 12-kilometre paddle along the Sûre river to Echternach. Meanwhile, treetop trails for adults and kids are at the Indian Forest in Vianden, 20 minutes' drive, and you can chill down afterwards with a swim in the pool over in Beaufort, five minutes from the site. Venture up to Vianden for the day (20 minutes away) to take the chairlift up to the castle and then stroll on down to the Victor Hugo House or the cartoon museum. Castle collectors should also pay a visit to the châteaux in Beaufort (10 minutes away) and Larochette (20 minutes).
