When time among the rich and famous begins to beckon, the site is well-placed for forays to and from all the hotspots. Both Saint-Tropez and Cannes are handily within an hour’s drive, and guests would do well to venture to the former for beaches, modern art museums and chic restaurants, while the latter is a top choice for clifftop forts, galleries, museums and, of course, the eponymous film festival. The smaller resort town of Antibes is 50 minutes away, and is a must for explores of the Picasso museum and Fort Carré, but is perhaps most likely to draw a crowd with the shows and animals at Marineland. If that has kids buzzing for more activity, the site’s 10 minutes from Aqualand waterpark and the rides of Luna Park. Tiring of the crush of humanity? Take some time away from the crowds with a trip into Préalpes d’Azur Regional Natural Park (45 minutes) or towards the Estérel Massif for some rural peace, before diving back into the fray with explores of Fréjus – and visits to its Roman remains, archaeological museums and, of course, shops – 10 minutes from base.
