Two top Normandy destinations are a breeze to get to from family-friendly Camping L'Hypo'Camp: the World War II memorial of Omaha beach (five kilometres) and the spectacular sight of the Bayeux Tapestry, within 10. Omaha beach, the one five kilometres away, has a watersports centre with sailing activities. When you return back to base, there are more ways to unwind, as the quiet site has a children's play area with a seesaw and swings. Barbecues are allowed on site too for alfresco dinners, and there's the convenience of having a small grocery shop on site if you need to gather ingredients. There are also other amenities including two well-maintained shower and toilet blocks. L'Hypo'Camp is outside the coastal commune of Colleville-sur-Mer, just under 40 kilometres from Calvados department capital Caen.

Em va agradar: Excellent size pitches. Lovely quiet location with access onto walking and cycle routes. Spotlessly clean facilities with added bonus of a soap dispenser for when you forgot to take your own when you went to the toilet! Free WiFi throughout the site and free electricity for tent pitches which was a big bonus!
Fresh bread to order for the morning.

Em va agradar: Lovely smaller site, with friendly and helpful staff who made us very welcome and all speak French and English.

Great base to explore all the D-Day locations. Showers are good and the facilities are always clean. Didn't know they have site-wide wi-fi until we arrived, nice bonus

We have a large tent and they had ensured a larger pitch had been reserved, all the pitches are nice with mature hedges and trees. Mix of tents, motorhomes and some static caravans.

Overall we had a really happy stay at a good price

Em va agradar: Friendly welcome and ongoing support from staff running the site. A very clean site with plenty of facilities.

No em va agradar: Pitches are a strange shape and very uneven. Showers very unpredictable. WiFi impossible to connect to.

Tenda de safari Coco Sweet 2 habitacions

Em va agradar: Fantastic, everything and more was in the Coca, we had a couple of cold nights but with the heater provided was warm in no time. Lovely site and very friendly.

Llocs d'interès

Normandy tourist destinations of Omaha beach and the Bayeux Tapestry see hundreds of thousands of visitors to this region every year. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is at the site's local town of Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking the beach; at Bayeux, take time to see the town as well as its famous tapestry, stopping off at the 11th-century cathedral, the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy, and, if you're here for World War II remembrance, the British war cemetery just outside town. The fishing, horse riding and canoeing within the same distance should provide plenty of entertainment by the coast, as should the local sands within a kilometre, and the fishing boat views from the harbour of Port-en-Bessin, three kilometres from the site. The World War II memorial and museum of La Pointe du Hoc within 20 minutes' drive of the site. Also, remember to take your chance to have a tour of the Isigny Sainte Mère Coopérative (20 minutes' drive) cheese and butter factory.
