On the banks of the Semois river and about five minutes’ drive from the centre of Bouillon, Le Hameau de la Semois is a lovely site that mixes up peaceful vibes, natural views and easy access to urban amenities. There’s a warm welcome for all guests here – families, groups and dog owners included. The owners have also set this site up as an ‘ecovillage’ to ensure that the place is nature-friendly too. And getting out to explore the surrounding natural scenery should be easy, with plenty of hiking and cycling trails nearby and activities including kayaking, fishing and mountain biking. Fuelling your activities and explorations might involve heading into town for shops and places to eat, but there’s no need to go out if you don’t want to, as the park has its own grocery shop and brasserie. The latter is a lovely spot for drinks or dinners, and you can also pick up breakfasts, takeaways and barbecue or raclette packages in the evenings. Themed meals make a regular appearance on the schedule too, including summer barbecue evenings and autumnal game dinners. Other facilities on site include a playground, a stable wifi connection and bathroom blocks with laundry facilities.

Em va agradar Not a true camping site but a high standard aire pitch. Great river access at bottom of camping hut sites. Very clean toilet and washing facilities. Motorhome service point. Restaurant and shop when open

No em va agradar Extraordinary high cost for a dog at 16Euros! No actual dog friendly facilities to justify anything more than token cost.

Just a motorhome parking spot on dedicated carpark behind barrier.

No onsite staff when we arrived at 6pm.

Em va agradar So so peaceful, new site, there was only us on the secure, campervan site. The bathrooms were so clean (and new). Very secure. Mobile homes can park by the river. Lovely walk to bouillon, where we had dinner.

Concernant votre emplacement, nous tenons à souligner que les photos et descriptions présentes sur Pitchup sont conçues pour être les plus transparentes et honnêtes possible. Elles montrent clairement l'aménagement en gravier de ces parcelles. Il est donc un peu dommage d'être déçu à l'arrivée, alors que la réalité correspond exactement à ce qui est présenté lors de la réservation.

Pour ce qui est de la pente, ce fameux dénivelé fait tout simplement partie de l'ADN et du charme incontestable de notre belle région des Ardennes ! C'est justement ce relief naturel qui donne son caractère à notre domaine.

Nous comprenons tout à fait que notre aménagement en terrasses ne convienne pas à tout le monde. Il existe heureusement de nombreux campings parfaitement plats dans les environs qui correspondront sans doute beaucoup mieux à vos attentes et à votre condition physique pour un prochain séjour.

Nous vous souhaitons une bonne continuation pour vos futures vacances.

Em va agradar The physical situation on the banks of the Semois river. The cleanliness of the facilities

No em va agradar We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon(4.45pm) thinking we had to register our booking at the automated check-in kiosk at the entrance. The ref number sent by Pitchup was not recognised by the system. To any new arrivals...ignore the kiosk and go straight to the reservation desk in the bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Also, your van must be within a metre of the barrier into pitch areas A or B or it will not lift. Also, cold water only at the wash-up sinks. Can't wash dishes in cold water!!

Usually, the system works perfectly, but unfortunately, it failed in your case. We are truly sorry. 🔄📉

Regarding the hot water at the dishwashing area, we are taking action! 🚰🔥 We aim to have this sorted out by the end of the month. 🛠️📆

Bouillon will be your first port of call, no doubt – you can get to the centre of town with a five-minute drive, a 15-minute cycle or a 40-minute riverside walk. Once there, visit the castle to climb the tower, gaze into the well and see the Vauban steps; alternatively, book an evening slot to do a torchlight tour for added atmosphere. There are also at least 20 more historic buildings to visit while you’re here. The town is also a hub for hiking trails, including easy riverside trails and more challenging ones that take you to viewpoints and heritage sites. Cycling is popular too – hire bikes or e-bikes in town and set off to places like the Tombeau du Géant (otherwise 15 minutes’ drive). Alternatively, hire kayaks and paddle your way along the Semois to see some of the scenery. Elsewhere nearby there are also good family days out at the likes of Animal Park Bouillon (10 minutes’ drive), the doll-filled La Ferme des Fées (15 minutes) and the Ardois’Alle caves (20 minutes). Bouillon Medieval Experience and Karting Bouillon may also be appealing to youngsters.
