Le Hameau de la Semois

Gostou This site is a real treasure! We had a motorhome pitch at the very top of the valley. It’s quite a steep decent down to reception. But the facilities are exceptional. There are two separate Motorhome areas each with a least 10 pitches and each area has a shower / wc block with 4 individual shower / sink & toilet rooms - of a standard befitting at least a 3 star hotel.
Located at the bottom of the site you’ll find the main reception area. Adjacent to this is a small well stocked shop & what looked like a very nice restaurant, again this all looked more akin to a hotel standard than a campsite. Unfortunately we arrived in a Sunday (& out of high season, late September) so the restaurant was closed. So we took a delightful walk along the Semois river path to the town of Boullion, which is beautiful btw. This took us about 20mins and found a very wide choice of places to eat lined along the river front.
I would highly recommend staying at this site whether in a motorhome or in one of the wooden cabins - this site is exceptional. The chap who was on reception was also very helpful both when we checked in and the following morning (He spoke very good English as well)
Finally considering we were probably in the furthest location from the main reception area of the site the free WiFi was excellent!

Não gostou I did report a leak from underneath the sink in the shower block, but this was more out of courtesy than a complaint. Within 15mins of me reporting this someone had come up to the shower block to look at this and make a repair.

Gostou Not a true camping site but a high standard aire pitch. Great river access at bottom of camping hut sites. Very clean toilet and washing facilities. Motorhome service point. Restaurant and shop when open

Não gostou Extraordinary high cost for a dog at 16Euros! No actual dog friendly facilities to justify anything more than token cost.

Just a motorhome parking spot on dedicated carpark behind barrier.

No onsite staff when we arrived at 6pm.

Gostou So so peaceful, new site, there was only us on the secure, campervan site. The bathrooms were so clean (and new). Very secure. Mobile homes can park by the river. Lovely walk to bouillon, where we had dinner.

Concernant votre emplacement, nous tenons à souligner que les photos et descriptions présentes sur Pitchup sont conçues pour être les plus transparentes et honnêtes possible. Elles montrent clairement l'aménagement en gravier de ces parcelles. Il est donc un peu dommage d'être déçu à l'arrivée, alors que la réalité correspond exactement à ce qui est présenté lors de la réservation.

Pour ce qui est de la pente, ce fameux dénivelé fait tout simplement partie de l'ADN et du charme incontestable de notre belle région des Ardennes ! C'est justement ce relief naturel qui donne son caractère à notre domaine.

Nous comprenons tout à fait que notre aménagement en terrasses ne convienne pas à tout le monde. Il existe heureusement de nombreux campings parfaitement plats dans les environs qui correspondront sans doute beaucoup mieux à vos attentes et à votre condition physique pour un prochain séjour.

Gostou The physical situation on the banks of the Semois river. The cleanliness of the facilities

Não gostou We arrived late on a Sunday afternoon(4.45pm) thinking we had to register our booking at the automated check-in kiosk at the entrance. The ref number sent by Pitchup was not recognised by the system. To any new arrivals...ignore the kiosk and go straight to the reservation desk in the bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill. Also, your van must be within a metre of the barrier into pitch areas A or B or it will not lift. Also, cold water only at the wash-up sinks. Can't wash dishes in cold water!!

To clarify: once you have a booking, you receive a code and can drive in directly without needing to use the kiosk at all. 🛣️✅ The kiosk is intended only for walk-in guests who haven't booked yet. Usually, the system works perfectly, but unfortunately, it failed in your case. We are truly sorry. 🔄📉

Regarding the hot water at the dishwashing area, we are taking action! 🚰🔥 We aim to have this sorted out by the end of the month. 🛠️📆
