Bruges 15 minutes’ drive in one direction, Ostend and the Flanders coast the same amount in the other, easy access from the A10 motorway… and right here by the site a small lake, a beach (open in July and August only) and a whole lot of open space in which to relax. Yes, it’s safe to say that Vakantiepark Klein Strand is in an excellent location for an action-packed family holiday. This well-equipped holiday park is just on the edge of Jabbeke, about 10 minutes’ walk from the town’s shops, cafés and restaurants. If you don’t feel like going that far, no worries – there are two small restaurants on site (a Chinese and another serving up family favourites like pizzas and burgers), and you’re welcome to light up a barbecue as well. Working up an appetite shouldn’t be difficult at all, given the many activities available on site or nearby. A real highlight of this park is the lifeguarded lakefront beach with waterslides, which is open in July and August for swimming; it is close to the A10 and you may hear some traffic noise. From May to the end of September, sign yourself up for watersports for an additional fee too. Elsewhere are a playground and pétanque court, and the site runs kids’ and teens’ activities in high season (giving parents a chance to chill out on the park’s terrace or around the gardens). More activity? You got it. There are some lovely areas nearby for walks and bike rides, and you can easily take days out in Bruges (15 minutes’ drive), Ghent (35 minutes) or up at the coast in places like Ostend (15 minutes) and Blankenberge (half an hour).

Em va agradar good size pitch but not much shade.Clean facilities.

No em va agradar Overpriced unless you take advantage of the swimming and recreation. Showers expensive at 1 euro per minute. Washer Dryers were both out of order since the card machine was down.We lingered at our site until 12:30 since the place was half empty and they charged us 10 euro for overstay even though it cost them nothing. VERY large park. Lots of kids having fun so good for families.Terrible wifi even near the office.

Convenient location for last leg home.
Lovely bats flying about at night!!

No em va agradar Way too busy
Hundreds of people but only 4 washing up stations and 3 showers in each block. No way enough for the numbers of people.
Showers overly complicated with too up cards and even less fun when reception failed to add on your money anyway!!
Very noisy at night, loads of kids on electric scooters flying about.

Poor bathroom/WC hygiene, you could see sanitary items stuck into a box on the wall in a wc, very bad.
Loud people talking after 10pm.

Em va agradar Was very skeptical after reading reviews but really glad I ignored them. Lovely site only a 10 minute walk from the bus stop with links to 0stend, Bruge, Ghent and more. Yes it's 50 cent for a 1 minute shower but they were powerful and hot (unlike most sites) we stayed in a motorhome and pitches were lovely and spacious. I found the showers clean and nothing like what some reviews are saying. There was a smell from the drain outside the toilets but the same smell was coming from the streets aswell.
I would ignore bad reviews and try it out. We stayed 5 nights and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Friendly, helpful reception staff and d had it's own beach with lake for swimming and only an hour from the ferry. Thankyou for a lovely stay and will definitely be back

Em va agradar Great location to see the city of Brugge and also Oust-ende !

No em va agradar Only one toilet block on the camping site really very dirty and smell terrible and if walking 10 minutes to use the toilet or shower isn’t enough you have to pay to use the shower generally the camping site is very poorly managed and maintained no activities for the children as advertised and kids splash pool was yellow and left on and open all night. Also states on the site 50 cent per minute for hot showers however no able to use the shower unless you pay even for cold showers.

Em va agradar The China Garden restaurant was amazing.
Pitches were large and well kept.
Toilet facilities were clean but could do with an upgrade.
Young man on reception was very helpful and spoke very good English.
Only around an hour drive to Dunkirk/Calais Ferry Terminal.

No em va agradar Having to pay extra for the shower.
Not knowing when the cafe or restaurant would be open.
Having a long walk up to the Reception area and restaurant which is opposite the accommodation area.

Gentle walks and bike rides part of your holiday plan? Start local with trips to the Maskobossen forest (five minutes’ drive/10 minutes’ cycle) or visit one of the last Flemish polder hayland landscapes at the Paddegat nature reserve (10 minutes’ drive/15 minutes’ cycle). A little further afield is the coastal scenery of the Zwin Nature Park (35 minutes’ drive), where you can also take a walk on the beach. Speaking of beaches, there are some lovely beach towns along the coast, including Blankenberge (half an hour), with its aquarium and Art Nouveau buildings, and Knokke-Heist (35 minutes), a local favourite for its nine kilometres of sand. A day trip to Bruges (15 minutes) should certainly be on the cards too, for a boat tour on the canals, a climb up the Belfry Tower, some art at the Groeningemuseum and a wander around all the pretty streets and squares. If you’ve got more days to fill, you could also take a trip to Ghent (35 minutes) or visit the battlefields and In Flanders Fields Museum in Ypres (50 minutes).
