Afegiu les dades de la vostra empresaAdd a bit of oomph to your Austrian hols at HOCHoben, a fably scenic Alpine site in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Set in the mountains of the Carinthia region, this site is a short walk from the tiny town of Mallnitz and its 150 kilometres of hiking trails.
A bit unsure about where to get started? Summer sees the arrival of a handy hiking bus that can pick you up on site and drive you up to neighbouring trekking spots; staying here in the warmer months also gives you access to a walk with a local mountain guide. In winter, meanwhile, the site can have you dropped off at Ankogel ski resort or sort an escort for snowshoe strolls.
After learning about these perks and peering at HOCHoben's pics, you'll likely be up for taking yourself high up into the hills, but those who prefer their wanders at more manageable altitudes also have gentler valley walks close by. In winter, cosied up back at base, you may not even make it into those boots at all, especially when nearby Tauernbad sauna and spa (10 minutes' walk) is open.
Whatever you get up to, HOCHoben's family restaurant has plenty of dishes (many made with exclusively Austrian ingredients) to fuel your mountain crew. Mallnitz's beer-stacked bars, speciality restaurants and takeaways are also within easy reach if you fancy off-site bites.

Think your legs could benefit from a bit more exercise? Rent a mountain bike in Mallnitz, get out on one of the several circular trails that start in the town and you'll have chiselled calves in no time. Struggling to get a handle on those hills? Electric bikes can be hired and recharged on site.
Skiers, snowboarders and sledders who are here when the mountain peaks are capped with snow are within a 10-minute drive of Ankogel, a small-scale, family-friendly resort with two cable cars, three lifts and pistes aplenty to accommodate those heading downhill.
Austria may not be the first place that springs to mind when planning a beach holiday, but it can certainly be done. True, you'll be swimming in Lake Millstatt (30 minutes' drive), a thoroughly freshwater affair, but the crystal-clear water and spotless beaches easily make up for the lack of sand and salt. If you're all (and understandably) tired out by this point, skip the dip and grab a movie at Spittal an der Drau cinema (35 minutes).
