Camp Wild at Burrow Hill Farm

This was our fourth year staying at Camp Wild, and we’ve created so many special memories here over the years. It’s one of those places that just feels like home and we’ll definitely be back next year.
We’ve never quite found anywhere like Camp Wild because other campsites have never felt quite “wild” enough. But this place absolutely hits the nail on the head. We pitch up with the kids, make a fire and just completely switch off. You’ve got everything you need without taking away from that wild camping feeling, a toilet in the tent, basic cooking facilities and grills for the fire.
We’ve stayed on both the top and bottom pitches. These days we choose the bottom pitch as it’s flatter and gives the kids more space to run around, but the top pitch has the BEST views by far. I often wander up there, sit down and just take it all in.
Caroline and Christopher are also amazing hosts. They greet you with their Kawasaki Mule to help transport your belongings to your pitch, get you settled in and then leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet.
There’s lots of places to walk and a public footpath at the top that takes you into the sticks to explore
All in all, we absolutely love it here.

Caroline and Christopher are such lovely, kind and warm people. They were incredibly accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

We attempted camping for the first time with three children under four, and were later joined by their grandfather, their aunt and her two children, aged four and six.

It was wonderful. The kids absolutely thrived, and we were able to enjoy a relaxed and peaceful wildlife camping experience together.

The scenery was breathtaking, and the location was more than we could have hoped for. It truly was a special experience, and we’re so grateful for the memories we made.

We would happily recommend staying here and hope to return one day.

Em va agradar We loved that the pitch was on top of a hill with a great view out of the way of people, even the other pitch. It was also very well supplied with a mobile toilet, washing up area with lots of water and a great fire pit.

Chris and Caroline were also very friendly and hospital, Chris gave us a lift up and down the hill each time which we very much appreciated.

Em va agradar An absolutely stunning spot with kind and generous hosts. The provision of a camping toilet and potable water takes the edge off any discomfort and ‘roughing it’ whilst perfectly maintaining the wild camping ethos. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Em va agradar This campsite was absolutely fantastic! Caroline and Chris were wonderful hosts, fabulous with the children and so helpful, even bringing up a basket of tea and coffee when we arrived. The pitch is up quite a hill but there is an easier route available. Being at the top of the hill gave incredible views and made it feel very secluded. Also there was great phone signal which you don't always get camping! There is a footpath down the back of the pitch which didn't cause any issues, we saw a handful of people walking over the week. The facilities were better than expected, and Chris and Caroline worked hard refreshing facilities everyday. The area was great for exploring, a good base for places such as Sidmouth and Honiton. They even have an EV charger with a really good rate which we made use of. The children enjoyed foraging (ample blackberries available!) and sitting round the campfire. We had a really fabulous week and would highly recommend this site! I'm sure we'll be back!

Em va agradar What an absolute gem. Close enough to wild camping to be wild but with enough amenities to provide the essentials ! A portable toilet that is emptied daily , pots and pans , a firepit and a bbq all supplied. I would recommend bringing a gas stove for everyday cooking .what a blessing to be without technology as we camped with our grandkids aged 10,8 and 4 years old, who loved searching for sticks and logs for the firepit, climbing trees and finding an abundance of baby frogs. The lack of any light pollution meant that stargazing by the embers of a burning fire was the perfect ending to our awesome day. The hosts were very welcoming and at hand if needed but never intrusive . We chose the lower pitch ( as I have vertigo) which still gave us amazing views across the blackdown hills . Access to the footpath into the village was easily accessible and even had the opportunity to geocache along the way. The village has a great shop and a little play park .

Em va agradar A great site for wild camping, with more facilities than expected (washing facilities, fire pit, picnic bench, toilet).
Lots of wild life to see esp at dawn and dusk - deer, owls, bats.
Lovely owners who are very helpful and give a lift up the hill with your kit in their gator/side by side.
