Answers on a postcard please to Coalbeck Caravan Park… in a central setting for touring the Lake District and nearby coastline, this haven has views of the region’s woods, fields and hills from its spacious grounds. Getting you to linger a little longer before heading out for explores, the spacious pitches at Coalbeck Caravan Park are prime for spotting creatures like rare red squirrels among the pretty planters, and are a suntrap when the rays come out too. But if rain’s threatening? A spa next door to the site means you can book in for a treatment (or three…?). Back outdoors, the site’s a five-minute drive from Bassenthwaite Lake – one of the only bodies of water in the region with no settlements around it – so it’s got a peaceful vibe yet is close enough to many of the main sights in the northern part of the lakes. Case in point: it’s around a 15-minute drive to historic towns like Keswick and Cockermouth and about a half an hour to the coast. If you’re looking for leisure without having to get behind the wheel, Lake District Wildlife Park’s 24 acres of land home to more than 100 animals is a five-minute walk away. You’ll also need to ditch the car to visit The Lakes Distillery: this artisan gin, whisky and vodka producing place a 25-minute stroll from the park has tastings, tours and a small shop where you can wander off with some of its wares.

Càmping petit i tranquil amb instal·lacions impecables (lavabos individuals), amfitrions Sid i Liz molt amables. Ubicació ideal per al Lake District, a prop de rutes, pubs i el parc de fauna. Bon Wi-Fi, places planes. Una dutxa per a caravanes rarament és un problema.

Em va agradar Great location, peaceful quiet site, super friendly owners. Our dog loved it too thanks so much for the dog treats. It has Wi-Fi and our own clean well stocked toilet so brilliant facilities. There is also a shower too. Great to have electric hookup too.

Em va agradar Lovely clean facilities, own private toilet for each pitch was really great. Really friendly greeting from Sid! Great location for mountain walking and Lake Bassenthwaite.

Em va agradar Fantastic, quiet and immaculate site for only 5 motorhomes/campervans on a small static caravan site about 15 van). Good location close to Bassenthwaite lake 10-15 minutes walk away. Easy access to the northern lakes including Keswick, Derwentwater and also to the coast and Cockermouth. We liked having our own toilet which kept spotlessly clean. Easy access to buses just a 5 minutes walk away walk.

No em va agradar There was nothing we disliked but maybe if you want a busy site this is maybe not for you.

Em va agradar Everything,

Little gem tucked away,

I unfortunately can't remember the couple names I met but they was lovely, also straight to the point which I love.

Only 5 pitches which is what I needed after being in a mad tourist spot in New forest just beforehand, was nice and quiet in coalbeck,

Toilets/ablutions and site location very clean and beautiful,

We was made to feel welcome the minute we got there, they found space for our tow car, nothing wasn't too much. Views are amazing and the nature nearby is just another luxury.

This is the best site I've been to in the lakes and maybe even England,

If there was Ben Nevis staring at me it would have been number one for me and the wife.

Get your own toilet, the one massive shower is plenty for the 5 spots.

It's a shame the site isn't open all year round but I know the reason behind this, I'd happily pay the extra to stay over winter.

WiFi does the job, enough to keep kids quiet

For ambles around art galleries and wanders in Wordsworth House and Garden, Keswick is eight miles away. Cockermouth, on the other hand, about the same distance to the south east, is just the place for meandering through medieval and Georgian alleyways under castle walls. Or for classic Lake District outdoorsy options instead, Derwentwater's walking and cycling circuit (set aside about half a day to complete if strolling) takes half an hour to reach in the car. To break up traipsing around the tarns inland, Solway Coast Area of Natural Beauty is 40 minutes by car, while underground explores at Honister Slate Mine in Borrowdale are 45 minutes away. If you fancy staying above ground and sauntering southwards, Lake Ullswater steamer cruises are also 45 minutes from the park and Lake Windermere is the place to waterski (an hour and five minutes away from Coalbeck Caravan Park). To scale one of the region’s highest peaks, Scafell Pike takes an hour and 15 minutes to reach.
