Life’s a beach, as the saying goes… and beaches may very well feature in an itinerary from this East Yorkshire location, as West Hale Gate Caravan Site is 15 minutes’ drive away from the east coast. The dog-friendly touring site is on a working farm surrounded by the countryside. A little downtime goes a long way, so this site is quiet and spacious so that you can get a quality rest. Guests have access to bathroom cabins, each with a shower, toilet and basin so that you’ll have somewhere to freshen up a little before the day. The site is close to the North Yorkshire border, so there’s much to do whichever direction you go, whether it's days at the seaside or long, scenic walks over the Yorkshire Wolds. The farm is half a mile out from the rather scenic village of Burton Fleming, and about five minutes' drive from the nearest shop (in Hunmanby). Rudston, another village five minutes’ drive away, has a popular foodie spot in the form of a community pub – you may want to pedal there over the particularly splendid (and flat-ish) bike ride before settling in for a meal. There are plenty of other great local pubs around the local area too.

Em va agradar Becky was such a great host, couldn’t do enough for us & was really responsive to all communication. A really wonderful site, spacious, lush grass & great amenities! The toilet & shower sheds were brilliant, we had one all to ourselves as we were one of the only vans on the site & they were really modern, clean & the shower was boiling hot - which was brilliant after a day at the seaside!! Our dogs absolutely loved it and had the site to themselves for the full 5 days, super dog friendly as the entire field is enclosed. Will definitely be returning!

Em va agradar Lovely warm welcome (with eggs!) from Becky which made us feel very at home. She also went out of her way to check that everything was ok during our stay. A beautiful spot with generous sized and well kept pitches, so even though the site was fairly busy we didn’t feel cramped at all. The shower and toilet shepherd’s huts were brilliant.

Em va agradar It was a lovely little site. The owner came and checked in on us. She is really trying hard to make it a pleasant experience. The toilet facilities were very clean and tidy and the site was well kept, clean and tidy. Ideal place to use as a base for the coast. We were 15 mins away from bridlington

Em va agradar Lovely site with views and sheep for company, had field to ourselves all week until Friday, so nice and quiet and sole use of toilet blocks, saw the difference come Friday so not so good! Overall a very pleasant stay and thoroughly enjoyed

No em va agradar Only 1 bus a week from local village, uber wouldn’t pick up from site, so had to use motorhome for transport!

Sidle down to the seaside… Bridlington (15 minutes’ drive) has sandy beaches where you may dabble in a spot of windsurfing or kitesurfing, followed by a tour around the old town. In Filey (15 minutes), you may laze along the sandy shore or watch the fishing boats go to sea. Then, Scarborough (half an hour), a serious seaside resort, has boat trips, surf schools and a funfair, while in Whitby (an hour), there’s the carcass of an abbey and Dracula legends to discover around the town, as well as another beach. While the coast has a way of reeling you in, you won’t want to miss out on the Yorkshire Wolds Way (15 minutes). It’s a hot rambling spot, thanks to its softly undulating chalk uplands and old villages – and those of you who are keen cyclists are likely to appreciate the sloping landscapes too. Craving the city too? Well, the port of Hull (55 minutes) may be a good stop-off on your walking and cycling endeavours. A little further afield, the medieval city of York (an hour) and the shopping centre in Leeds (an hour and a half) make for some more grand days out.
