Want to spend your holidays lakeside – perhaps relaxing as you wait for fish to bite or honing your paddleboarding skills? You can do all this and more at Bosworth Lakeside Lodges, a family-oriented touring site spread over 50 acres in the Warwickshire countryside. There are 20 acres of lakes here, so you can get up to a wide range of watersports, from boating and kayaking to windsurfing, plus the above-mentioned paddleboarding and fishing. Taster sessions may be available if you fancy trying out something new. There are also colourful pedalos shaped like flamingos, swans and dragons, so you can cut a fine figure on the lake. Fishing in the pools is included for one person in the group (and under 14s go free), and additional adults can join for just a short fee per day. Back on dry land, you can relax on the sandy lake beaches or head to the site’s 12-hole crazy golf course with a nautical theme. For the kids, meanwhile, there's a fab adventure playground, with a dedicated section for youngsters under five. Several picnic and barbecue areas are available, with café and pub catering a mile to the east in the pleasant town of Market Bosworth (five minutes’ drive). Dogs are welcome at Bosworth Lakeside Lodges, but they need to be kept on leads at all times. Please note that this site only accepts family groups and couples aged over 25. On-site facilities include a dedicated toilet and shower block, washing-up facilities, Elsan disposal, fresh water and waste disposal. Calor and Campingaz bottles are available for exchange.

Em va agradar Lovely site beautiful lakes and scenery in a stunning area.

No em va agradar My Only gripe was the shower cubicles were on the small side and there was no shelves in the cubicle to put soap.

Would definitely visit again.

We booked a fully serviced waterside pitch however the condition of the site is in a very poor state of repair. The Showers do not work & were filthy dirty. The toilets were also very dirty & never seemed to be cleaned. The grass in front of our pitch was just worn out dirt. The rubbish bins were overflowing & the Elsan point was grim. The owners clearly don't care about cleaning the site for the campers. They just care about the new Plastic Lodges that are dotted around the lake. The shower & toilet block is dilapidated & will no doubt be demolished soon to make way for more plastic lodges. We will never return here.

Em va agradar We recently spent a weekend away at Bosworth Lakeside on a fully serviced waterfront pitch, and overall, it was a fantastic family getaway. The location is absolutely beautiful – the view over the lake was amazing, and it was lovely to wake up right by the water.

Our 12-year-old had the time of his life paddleboarding on the lake – he spent hours out there and didn’t want to come off. The site had a relaxed atmosphere and, despite being busy, it wasn’t too noisy, which made it perfect for unwinding.

No em va agradar The main downside was the shower facilities. They are quite dated, and during our stay, only one shower in the men's block was actually usable. The women's showers weren't in the cleanest condition either, with sand often left behind by children. It's something the site could really improve on

Em va agradar Lovely places, lots to do on the lake and good selection of things to hire. We hired paddle boards and the guy was very helpful. Brilliant for family's with children, lake is shallow so can swim in it and there is also a beach. Nice large pitches very friendly staff.

No em va agradar Toilets in the main building were a bit tired and damaged

Em va agradar Clean and tidy site. Spacious area for the caravan and car.
Loved the area with the sand by the water. Kids enjoyed the park.

No em va agradar X2 toilets in the toilet block did not work. No prices on the food inside the shop.
Could perhaps have a few more things on the site for the children.

Twycross Zoo (10 minutes’ drive) is home to almost 100 different species of animals, with a special focus on primates – from great apes like gorillas and orangutans, to monkeys – plus lemurs and meerkats. Younger children might like the immersive touch-and-feel activities in the Gruffalo Discovery Land. The kids may not be in school, but there are real-life history lessons at the Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (10 minutes). Here you can take a guided walk around the fields where the 1485 battle took place, learn about the War of the Roses and discover how King Richard III lost his life in the fray. There are also children’s hunts and talks. Leave the past behind and zoom ahead to the future (or at least into space) at Leicester’s National Space Centre (35 minutes). You can experience what it’s like inside the International Space Station, see a sample of moon rock and learn about the universe in the Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium.
