When a relaxed break on Anglesey is what the doctor ordered, Tyn Rhos Caravan Park should do rather nicely. This rural and dog-friendly park really is a quiet spot tucked into leafy countryside by the side of the Afon Lligwy stream, with no clubhouse, shop, restaurant or play area on site. However, children are welcome to stay, and you should find all the pubs, cafés and shops you need a handy five minutes’ drive away in Moelfre. It’s also only 10 minutes’ stroll from the sweeping stretches of Lligwy beach – known for its golden sands, scenic views and beach café. Luckily the beach is also open for your furry friends, so they can join in with a splash about in the waves. Practical facilities cover all the essentials: modern toilet and shower blocks (including one newly built for 2025; a small charge applies for the coin-operated hot showers), an accessible bathroom for mobility-impaired guests, a washing-up area and laundry room.

喜欢 Location close to lovely beach
Facilities clean and modern.
Pleasant site

不喜欢 Dogs off lead. Ours was on her lead all the time but got very stressed watching other dogs playing ball off lead in front of her. This was our second visit to this site and the dogs off lead both times unfortunately means we probably won't stay again.

喜欢 Closeness to the beach, although would’ve like to use the short cut from the site off the road but the gate was padlocked and we weren’t given the number.

不喜欢 Would’ve liked a bit more contact from the site team. We had to go searching for someone for shower tokens. We did arrive after 5pm so maybe we missed out on our introduction to the site. Just found it a little impersonal. Would’ve liked somewhere to empty our grey waste.

喜欢 Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. Clear information. Good facilities. Would stay again.

不喜欢 Initially allocated a pitch on a slope and it was a bit challenging to get van level. We rang reception and they kindly allowed us to move pitch which was great.
No waste water drive over grid drain on this site for vans that have under carriage waste water tanks. Again staff were helpful and offered that we could use the drain facility on their other site quite close by.

喜欢 Very quiet, great location and fabulous views..

不喜欢 Showers were confusing as you had to purchase tokens and the instructions for using the tokens were hidden behind a shelving unit..! Also no dog hooks by the toilet block and dog walk area was very disappointing given the beautiful location. No access to the beach from the site either

不喜欢 Being next to a seasonal van with kids running round my van and awning and kicking a football against my van, admittedly by accident but when I spoke to parent I was told kids need to be kids!

Cross the Britannia Bridge on the A55, and follow the A5025 for 10 miles to Benllech. Continue through Benllech village to the site office at Bodafon Caravan Park and check in. Then continue on this road for two miles and turn right at the roundabout towards Moelfre. Go down the hill and turn left after the fish-and-chip shop. Continue for two miles to the blue-and-white sign for Tyn Rhos Caravan Park on the right-hand side.

Lligwy Beach is only 10 minutes’ walk from the caravan park, which gives easy access to hikers wanting to follow sections of the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path (also about 10 minutes on foot). For more hiking, mountain biking and climbing options, you can nip back across the Menai Strait to Eryri National Park (40 minutes’ drive). It’s also in pole position for jaunts to the island’s great heritage attractions like moated Beaumaris Castle (25 minutes), or National Trust-owned Plas Newydd House and Gardens (half an hour), looking out over the Menai Strait and known for its art collections and formal gardens. If you need to keep the kids entertained, your first stop might be the butterflies and bugs at Pili Palas Nature World (20 minutes), or you could have a potter around the abandoned mine workings at Parys Mountain Copper Mine (10 minutes). When you have thrill-seeking teens to contend with, the zipwires over the disused quarry at Zip World Penrhyn Quarry (40 minutes) might well bring a big smile back to their faces.
