Whether you’re hunting down the Four Waterfalls or taking the scenic drive to the base of Pen Y Fan, your break in the Brecon Beacons National Park will be off to a splendid start with a stay at Bryn Bwch. This quiet, dog-friendly site is a great base from which to go waterfall spotting, as it’s next to the Four Waterfalls and the Sgwd Yr Eira Waterfall is within walking distance too… and as you might expect from a site in the national park, there are stunning views from this place. Dogs and children are very welcome to use the site as their base, so simply set down with all the gang in the large, well-maintained field (which has some level sections and some with slight gradients or inclines) and park next to your tent. On the facilities front, there are four toilets and two showers to go around. For anyone who wants to light up their own firepit in the evening, wood can be purchased from the bungalow when you check in. Ready to take on South Wales’ biggest mountain? The car park for routes up Pen Y Fan is 20 minutes’ drive away. It’s a fair way up to the top, so to pick up any snacks for the climb, you might want to stop by in Glynneath first. A 10-minute drive away from the site, this town has shops for picking up supplies along with pubs to reward your climbing efforts. When you're looking for a pub slightly closer by, there's also one five minutes' drive away from the site.

Choice of where to pitch in two fields.
Close to The New Inn pub, warm welcome good beer. Food looked good though didn't have time to try it.

Good water pressure in shower. Newly decorated toilet block by The Bungalow but see below.

不喜欢 No hooks in washbasin area of womens toilets for towels or wash bags.
Shower control unit is so high and was reluctant to stand on the plastic step provided. A grab handle would be helpful as floor tiles very slippery when wet.

People talking around camp fire at 02.30 during requested quiet time.

喜欢 Great site in a great location. Decent facilities. Lots of space to pitch up. Can walk to the start of the four waterfalls walk in 15 minutes. Owner was lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend. On a slight gradient but not a major problem. Lovely night sky views as well.

喜欢 Pleasently surprised by the bathroom facilities with hot water and flushing toilets, I hadn't read this in any description beforehand so this felt like a bonus.
Friendly campers and good for dogs. Great location for walking to the Four Waterfalls trial and driving to other sites. Lovely views of the hills and sunset and sunrise colours too.

不喜欢 It is a bit slanted in most places because of the site being on a hill but luckily we'd arrived at a good time to get a spot on a flat section at the back.
Toilets were sometimes unclean or out of paper by mid-morning/all day before they got cleaned in the evening.

BEST THING fires allowed no pit, pot nor basket, on the ground

不喜欢 Nothing... by no means a complaint, it is a working farm, animals active all hours (but we really were not bothered at all)

喜欢 The “Boss” was very helpful. Friendly atmosphere and just short walk away from some beautiful waterfalls and good food served at the Angel inn and the cafe opp SGWD Galadys.

喜欢 Great location. Peaceful site. Plenty of space.

不喜欢 Despite multiple signs warning of extremely hot water throughout the site what the signs should have said was “no hot water”. Boiling kettles to do washing up or wash faces or shave was not part of the plan. Facilities adequate but basic. showers were warm at best. If you’re not fussed and like roughing it then this is the place for you. I wouldn’t mind so much but the price I paid should have assured we had hot water.

Break into the Brecon Beacons however you please… taste the whisky from the copper-pot stills on a tour of Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre (15 minutes' drive) perhaps? Grab a co-adventurer and strap yourselves in for a one or two-person zipwire ride from the tower of a former Colliery coal mining site at Zip World Tower (20 minutes)? Or board the Brecon Mountain Railway (40 minutes) and make your way into the mountains on the original mountain line? Mountain biking might make it onto your itinerary in these parts, as there are a couple of options within driving distance of the site. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or a pro at BikePark Wales (35 minutes), as there are lots of different forest trails. Dare Valley Country Park and Gravity Family Bike Park (35 minutes) is another good option for families, especially those who are new to the game. At this site, you’ll only be a short drive from the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (25 minutes). Here, kids are likely to love the lifesized dinosaurs and the caverns. Plus, there are lots of things to learn about the history of the dinosaurs and other cool parts of the past in the museum and Iron Age farm.
