Ahhh, Powys. It’s got a lot going for it – being in the scenic wilds of Wales yet so close to England’s stunning county of Shropshire. But what it’s also fab for? Tipis at Ponty, an adults-only site on a pretty six-acre smallholding by the border between two nations. Access to attractions and activities aside, this park’s immediate location is worth the visit alone: it’s flanked by a three-acre paddock and the banks of the River Cain, where you’re welcome to fish or just settle in and admire the gorgeous views up the valley. Seating and firepits are provided, so there’s always a comfy, warm spot out in the open air, and to keep the peaceful vibe intact it’s a vehicle-free site with wheelbarrows supplied to help you cart your kit around the place. Well-behaved dogs are allowed to come along for your break too. All in all, the facilities are fantastic hereabouts: they include two bespoke wetrooms and a kitchenette that’s kitted out with fridges, freezer, a microwave and a washing-up area along with a little ‘honesty box’ shop selling various products prepped by in-house chefs Ian and Jane. Themed meals are occasionally offered during busy periods on site. Guests are also welcome to use the Sunset Shack in the upper copse, a cosy hideaway with seating for both dining and relaxing alongside a cooking area with a double gas hob. As the name suggests, this is the place to go for top views of the spectacular sunsets that often appear around these parts. Meanwhile, the village of Llansantffraid (just under a mile away) is your go-to for mini supermarkets, pubs, a chip shop and a curry house.

喜欢 What a magical place! My partner and I had the best time staying in the wild tipi over a long weekend and it was exactly what we were looking for. Ian and Jane were incredible hosts and gave us lots of recommendations for non-locals. Can’t recommend enough, we will be back!

喜欢 The place was well beyond our expectations. We stayed in theTipi with our dog. There was a fence and gate so she could safely stay off lead. The host was a lovely and polite gentleman, very welcoming and helpful. The site itself was stunning with amazing views and river next to our tent. I wish we could stay there few more nights! Thank you

喜欢 Beautifully located campsite nestled away in the valleys. Ian and Jane are superb hosts and they've really created a specially place here. The pitch was spacious and felt private but still had open stunning views.

The facilities are well equipped and spotless, the small shop well stocked with anything you might need, including fresh produce from their animals! Don't miss out on pizza night on Saturdays, superb pizzas, home made chips and lovely salad, priced at an absolute steal as well. Couldn't recommend Tipis at Ponty enough, we'll be back 👍

喜欢 Great surroundings, peaceful, nice views. Stayed in wild tipi, a great hybrid camping if you don’t fancy putting up the tent! Was extremely stormy whilst we were there but with the little heater inside was very cosy despite being rough outside. Lovely couple that run it, well stocked kitchen with sausages/eggs and a few other bits.
