喜欢: Nice and simple site with good clean showers and toilets. Friendly owners. Beautiful views across to the Tor in Glastonbury. Reasonably priced.

不喜欢: The George Inn shuts at 1800 on a Sunday which was a shame.

喜欢: Beautiful location, had toilets and running water. It was close to locations but still felt like you were in the middle of nowhere.

不喜欢: There was a large group of people staying and music playing until early hours of the morning although we couldn't tell if the music was on or off site. I think that came down to the time of booking although the pitch up suggests no large were allowed so this was a bit of shame there there was.

喜欢: The view from the campsite was fantastic. A very peaceful place with plenty of space to pitch and give everyone room. The George Inn was friendly and food was good.

不喜欢: Uneven ground. A large group were making noise and drinking until the early hours, leaving litter in the communal barn area.
The loud chugging sound of a generator used by a permanent
resident (running from 10pm-midnight) ruined the peaceful feel.

Catch the Somerset history vibe with visits to the flamboyant, Gothic-era Wells Cathedral (10 minutes’ drive), and check out the Bishop’s Palace and Gardens too. Glastonbury (20 minutes) has an atmospheric abbey of its own, and loads of quirky little shops selling joss sticks and silver jewellery, while the darker side of local life is revealed on ghostly guided walks of Shepton Mallet Prison (10 minutes). Want to breathe in more of that fresh Somerset air? Scramble up to the top of Glastonbury Tor (20 minutes) for far-reaching views of the Somerset Levels (30 minutes), where you can spot wading birds on walks and cycles through sleepy villages. For more hardcore exercise, take a climbing course on the limestone cliffs of Cheddar Gorge (25 minutes). Animatronic dinosaurs, cave tours and mini golf may well keep kids entertained for much of the day at Wookey Hole Caves (15 minutes), or you can clamber aboard a steam train on the East Somerset Railway (15 minutes) to chug through the countryside. And if you’re holidaying with teens, pray they don’t know about Clarks Village (25 minutes), or they’ll be busy spending your retirement fund in the cut-price designer outlet stores.
