Fancy a Somerset break with easy, convenient access to a traditional pub serving real ales and home-cooked meals? Then consider Buckland Field Camping. This small and friendly pop-up site occupies a lush paddock to the rear of The Bell Inn, in the village of Buckland Dinham, 10 minutes’ drive from Frome along the A362. This is a simple but comfortable spot, with all the basic amenities: toilets, warm showers and a washing-up area, for example. There’s also plenty of free parking in the pub car park, not to mention spectacular country views from the expansive (and flat) field. The other obvious perk of staying here is the on-site pub, which serves home-cooked breakfasts, light lunches and filling evening meals, as well as organising events like quiz nights and live music. If you’d rather self-cater, portable gas stoves are permitted if guests exercise caution. Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the season. Plenty of bike trails and footpaths (some of them starting at the site gates) heading into the Somerset countryside make it easy to leave the car behind. If you want to give your legs a break, the D2 bus stops just outside the pub and travels to destinations like Frome and Bath (half an hour’s drive). Other local spots worth exploring include Longleat animal park (20 minutes) and Cheddar Gorge (40 minutes), in the Mendip Hills National Landscape.

喜欢 Great value - not expensive - sure it doesn't have all the facilities that more established camp sites have. But that's because it's a pop-up site and the price reflects that.

Yes you have to pay for a shower - but it was a great shower.

The pub is excellent. Great evening meal and breakfast at great prices.

Really pleasant walk from the campsite (50 mins circular walk).

喜欢 Spot on site behind the pub excellent for what we needed in terms of running and swimming sites.

I'd use as a base for activities in the area. The pub folk were incredibly welcoming and the food was great and well priced.

Had a very chilling weekend and will be back

不喜欢 Needs more loos actually in the campsite, the camping ones were ok but the motion activated one was a pain in the bum especially when you were concentrating on the bum but trying to motion activate.

喜欢 Nice level site in a beautiful village, behind a very welcoming pub. The staff were all absolutely lovely.
Had a good evening meal and a cracking breakfast.

不喜欢 I was only aware of 1 shower on site, which for the size of the site seemed inadequate.
If there were more then these needed to be clearly marked as I didn’t see them. The shower was also coin operated, 2 x £1 for 6 minutes. If you are a family this becomes costly. When you have already paid for a pitch to put your tent up, it seems somewhat unfair to then add a charge for a shower.

喜欢 Very simple camp site close to a very pleasant pub. Everything that was done was well done even though facilities were limited. Breakfast at the pub was very good all staff were very pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

Also here are Cheddar Gorge and Caves (40 minutes), with spectacular rock formations. Stretching along the River Avon, Bath (30 minutes) is a top spot for a little pampering. Spend half a day at the rooftop pool of the Thermae Bath Spa sauna complex, soaking your aching limbs as well as soaking up splendid views of the city, before checking out the Roman Baths or the Victoria Art Gallery.
