Devon or Cornwall, Cornwall or Devon? Settle yourself down at The Old Rectory Caravan and Camping Park, three miles from Tavistock, to explore both with ease. Amenities at this self-sufficient smallholding include toilet and shower blocks, laundry facilities and a washing-up area; there's also a play area with swings and a slide, and animals to meet and greet. There are little extras around too, such as welly loan, a welly and bike cleaning area and plenty of recycling facilities (to keep your stay green through and through). You can also tuck into the free-range eggs, sausages and bacon produced on site, and, when the weather’s right, homegrown veggies fresh from the polytunnel. After dinner, pick up a tome from the on-site book exchange, or get starry eyed at the dark skies above in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you’re bringing your own well-behaved four-legged companion, they can be exercised in the site’s designated dog-walking field.

喜欢 The pitch was nice and level. Water and chemical waste was close by and toilets and shower. 5 minute drive to Tavistock which is a lovely market town. Not far from Dartmoor.

不喜欢 We had a small dog and he would have been able to get under the farm gate onto the road on the dog exercise area so couldn’t have met him off the lead. If some wire denning had been put across it that would solve that but saying that it didn’t really cause us a problem. So only a minor issue.

喜欢 Sehr schöne Anlage! Alles da was man braucht. Der Sanitärbereich ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und könnte etwas gepflegter sein. Wir waren allerdings nach der Hochsaison da und ingesamt nur wenige Gäste. Da ist dann denke ich auch mal die Luft raus und die Intervalle für die Reinigung verlängern sich etwas. Hervorzuheben ist die faire Stromabrechnung. Hier wird nicht nur eine Pauschale verlangt, die viel zu hoch angesetzt ist. Hier wird genau abgerechnet und wir haben pro Tag mit Kühlbox, Kochplatte, Wasserkocher, dem Laden der Mobilgeräte usw... ca. 1 Pfund bezahlt. Bei anderen Anbietern kostet der Strom bei gleichem Platz gleich mal 8,50 Pfund mehr.

不喜欢 Das WLAN funktioniert leider überhaupt nicht. Dank kostenlosem Datenroaming war das zu verschmerzen, aber das Netzwerk war nirgends auf dem Platz konstant vorhanden und eine Anmeldung hat nicht funktioniert.

喜欢 We absolutely loved staying here! the campsite was quiet and relaxing and the hosts were extremely accommodating and lovely. The secluded pitch was great and was a good price. The campsite has a lovely small farm on site with chickens and ducks that roam free on the site which is a lovely touch.

What I will say, is that if you decide to stay here, book through their website and not pitchup as they are a family run business!

喜欢 The area is stunning and the campsite was very well maintained.
The toilet and shower block were a little dated but adequate for our needs.
Overall I would recommend the site for the views, and the Owners were lovely.

不喜欢 The recycling area did let it down a little, you are encouraged to recycle as much as possible but the small bins seemed to be near full constantly especially the plastic and cardboard bins.

喜欢 Really nice pitches, a well thought out site, well situated. The owner was friendly and helpful. We had a few issues with our trailer when there and they bent over backwards to accommodate us while we got it fixed. Highly recommend. Loved the visits from the chickens and hens.

Did someone say cream tea? Of course they did, for the market town of Tavistock, three miles away, is the home of this most English custom: the only quibble you might have is deciding whether it's clotted cream or jam to go on your scone first. As well as the cream teas, history buffs with have plenty to explore about the town, which has World Heritage status as it sits just on the edge of the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. Horrible History fans can step back in time too at Morwellham Quay (two miles south of the park), a live-action Victorian museum with a historic village, port, copper mine and railway. The site is 10 minutes' drive from the edge of Dartmoor National Park and 25 minutes from one of the Dartmoor visitor centres at Princetown. Also within easy reach are the Tamar Trails activity centre, less than a five-minute drive away, and Maddacleave Wood and Gawton Gravity Hub (an intense 500-foot mountain bike descent trail), within a couple of minutes. Trethorne Leisure Park, about half an hour’s drive north, has something come rain or shine, including dodgems, soft play, farm animals, bowling and crazy golf.
