Set up for sweet sea views and countryside courses in the South Hams… a small, family-friendly and dog-friendly site on a working livestock farm, Didwell Farm Campsite is well-positioned for clifftop wanders, catching waves or whiling the day away on the sand, within walking distance of Thurlestone and coastal paths. Down to the sea you go… with grassy pitches sloping down towards the valley, it’s easy to see your end destination. It’s a 35-minute walk to the South West Coast Path. From there, take your pick from Thurlestone’s five sandy beaches (all pretty splendid swimming spots). There are surfboards for hire and watersports galore at Bantham beach (an hour’s walk), the rockpools and rock archway at the National Trust’s South Milton Sands (40 minutes) or plenty of wildlife around the South Huish Wetlands Reserve’s boardwalks (40 minutes). No matter how far you walk or paddle out, there’s always a place to prop your feet back on site. The back to basics pitches are an easy-going place to unwind… perhaps rustle up a barbecue or take yourself off on a wander to source some tasty eats. Handily, there’s a café down by South Milton Sands and a restaurant and pub 35 minutes’ walk away from the site. If you’re looking to stock up on general food supplies, Kingsbridge (a market town with an indoor pool and bowling) is an easy five-minute drive away too. Here, you may take your pick from fish and chip shops, pubs and other cosy restaurants.

喜欢 Really lovely site. Huge field that you can pick your own spot. Fantastic sea view and great facilities. Have to say that they have the biggest shower I’ve been in on a camp site. Super clean and they offer free tea and coffee which is a novel idea. Brilliant. Will visit again.

不喜欢 Can’t think of anything except the field slopes in places and you’ll need chocks. Saying that there are plenty of flat places to pitch.

喜欢 Communal barn with tables, microwave, kettle, tea/ coffee, two large hot showers.
Great location, close to Salcombe and Kingsbridge!
Beautiful sea view!

不喜欢 Small, narrow, bendy country lanes- but can’t really change that. We used the road coming from West Alvington or Bowringsleigh Wood which seems to be straighter/ easier to let other cars past! Avoid Kerse Lane, a few close shaves and not much passing space.

喜欢 Barn with kettle, fridges and plenty of seating area to get it wind and rain. Compost toliets always clean and no smell. Friendly owners happy to help

喜欢 Lots of space for pitching where you like. The campsite was a nice and quiet field set in beautiful scenery. Facilities were great, lovely big showers and toilets were always clean. Barn area was wonderful - Fridges free to use and the use of a kettle, teabags and coffee was a nice touch and made camping easier (not many places you get this). Friendly hosts, our kids loved it here and we would most definitely return!

喜欢 Very nice location to go camping, plenty of room as well. We loved the warm welcome and also the relaxed nature to pitches. The facilities were good, always kept clean and well looked after.
Will definitely use them again.

喜欢 The barn kitchen and showers was a lovely feature, weird but just having the luxury of a kettle and tea and coffee without turning a stove on was great.

The kids found the toilets being sheds interesting.

Having the communal space to cook when it was windy was also really useful. It also meant the kids could be together instead of in tents to wind down.

The campsite was peaceful, it was quite surprising that there were only 5 pitches used, but it meant the site was so peaceful and quiet.

不喜欢 The road, it was a very uncomfortable road to drive down or walk down. It is a very narrow road. We walked down to the beach a couple of times during our stay just to avoid driving and was chased by a tractor and a moving van on seperate occasions.

喜欢 A lovely, peaceful campsite – highly recommended

We had a really lovely stay here and honestly couldn’t fault it.

Rob, the owner, is such a pleasant and genuinely helpful guy. He’s very knowledgeable about the local area and was always happy to have a chat, offer advice or point us in the right direction. You can tell he really cares about the campsite and his guests.

The site itself is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and everything is exceptionally clean. The toilets and showers are excellent — the showers in particular are brilliant!

There’s also a fantastic barn that guests can use, with fridges, microwaves, a kettle, electric sockets and picnic tables. It’s such a thoughtful addition, especially when the weather is either very hot or raining. There are even books to read, which gives the place a really homely feel.

We also really appreciated the shaded areas, recycling facilities and the option to charge an electric car. There are lots of little touches that show how much thought has gone into making guests comfortable.

Overall, it’s a lovely campsite with a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. We really enjoyed our time here and would happily return. A big thank you to Rob for making us feel so welcome!

If you’ve got little ones to entertain, no need to fret. Pennywell Farm (35 minutes' drive) has pig racing, trailer rides and a miniature railway, plus plenty of friendly farm animals for hands-on experiences. Woodlands Family Theme Park (20 minutes) has some slightly more daring rides, including rollercoasters and toboggan runs, as well as a zoo park and falconry. Or, if you’re still looking to see more animals (and many of the wilder kind), Paignton Zoo Environmental Park (40 minutes) is a good detour. Paignton (45 minutes) itself has seaside resorts vibes in full with a busy beachfront, pier or steam railway rides a little further inland. A fishing village with thatched cottages… Hope Cove (10 minutes) is a stop off the South West Coast Path and home to two small coves. Take a fishing trip here or set sail from Salcombe (15 minutes), a sailing town. Afterwards, you may want to dedicate some time to browsing the boutique shops, dining in a fine restaurant or taking the ferry to East Portlemouth beach (35 minutes) or South Sands Beach (15 minutes).
