If your travels usually revolve around country walks from a well-equipped green base, you'll likely do well at Maustin Park in West Yorkshire’s Lower Wharfe Valley. At this large park in rural Yorkshire, head for a wander beside the river Wharfe (minutes away on foot), where birds can often be spotted in the trees and fishing can be done on the water. Rare red kites are often seen around the region. And if you're more of a browser than a birdwatcher or angler, Maustin Park is in the middle of the Yorkshire triangle of Harrogate, Leeds and York (20, 30 minutes and 45 minutes’ drive away respectively). Wetherby’s 15 minutes away and holds a town market every Thursday. Back at base, unwind in the reading lounge, have a snooker match in the dayroom or host a game on the bowling green. Delicious homemade food is available at the on-site Stables Bar and Restaurant, open from Wednesday through to Sunday (drinks only on Wednesdays, food served Thursday to Sunday), alongside a great selection of cask ales, wines and gins (it's a popular spot, so it's wise to reserve your table in advance). Handy amenities on site include toilets, showers, a washing-up area and a laundry room, plus waste disposal and water taps.

喜欢 This is a very well appointed site mainly static vans with 6 touring pitches, it has been awarded 5* by Visit England and it shows. We had a lovely, friendly and welcoming check in. We chose our pitch from the ones available. On site there is a bowling green, reading lounge, pool tables and a bar and restaurant. Despite all those amenities it was the quietest site we have ever been on and the cleanest too. After a very busy season with our guest house this site was the perfect choice for a quiet wind down. We tried the restaurant and bar and found them to be really good with nice vegetarian options. The pitch was fully serviced and very nicely done. It is located between Harrogate and Leeds a great base to explore from. We spent 8nights and will definitely be returning we fell in love with both the area and the site. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

喜欢 The site was quiet (Mon and Tues) and the serviced pitch was really handy as was the proximity to toilets. Pitches were clean and grassy areas mown. Nice walk along the river from the caravan park.

不喜欢 Our touring pitch was too close to the car park and bins for me. The views from the touring site pitch were disappointing over looking the bins, a building and the carpark. The toilet block toilets, sinks and floors were clean but weirdly the baby changing area in the toilet cubicle was covered in dead flies. We were there two nights and there was no attempt to clean it. The restaurant/pub was closed (but we knew that before we arrived). However, there was nothing within walking distance to go to in the evening.

喜欢 Lovely site. Well positioned and plenty to do around the site. Bowling green, pool and snooker room was a big plus. Toilets kept clean and spotless. Nice bar and restaurant on site.

不喜欢 Shower was a bit tight fit. Wifi was very poor as we kept losing the signal.

喜欢 This is a lovely site. There's a pub that is lovely & they do a FANTASTIC Sunday lunch (I recommend booking if you want to go for this).

This is mostly a static holiday park with 6 touring pitches. The pitches are spacious with a picnic bench, water & electric. Behind the pitches is a small block with showers toilets, and a pot wash sink. The facilities are small but there are only 6 pitches & it was perfectly adequate for us, we never had to wait for anything & it was August bank holiday weekend.
There's a crown green bowling pitch which residents used each morning & we enjoyed watching. There's also a day room with pool tables in, although we didn't use this.

There is also 2 electric car charging points & the rate is very reasonable.

The WiFi didn't really work for us at our pitch but it wasn't an issue because 4G was fine.

There's not much in the immediate surrounding area, so its best if you have a car if you want to get out & about. You can walk to the river from the site & my husband did each morning to fish, there is an honesty box at the public footpath & its £5 per day.

The kites are a fantastic sight to see & you can hear & see them each day from the touring pitches. As avid bird watchers we found them fascinating to watch.

We drove to Knaresborough, a beautiful place, you can hire boats on the river & eat at one of many of the riverside cafes. You are also not far from Leeds & Harrogate.

Once you’ve ticked off trips to the independent shops of Harrogate, the Jorvik Viking Centre in York and the Royal Armouries houses in Leeds, it’s easy to get deep into the countryside as it's about a 30-minute drive to the Yorkshire Dales National Park in one direction and 50 to the North York Moors National Park in another. To blend a bit of history into days out in scenic surrounds, well-preserved old manors with pristine gardens are all around, including Harewood House (10 minutes’ drive) and Ripley Castle (30 minutes). Soap opera fan? A visit to Harewood’s estate is also your chance to tour the studios and setting of Emmerdale (just make sure to book in advance). If you're in the company of nippers, they may instead prefer to be taken to the treetop trails, enchanted forest and adventure playgrounds at Stockeld Park (10 minutes).
