喜欢 Setting - lake is nice and can get a short walk all the way around.

不喜欢 Hygiene (or lack of).
Not as described. No welcome hut. Shower block is actually a ply wood screen with warm water; however the screen is too high, so children can be seen whilst showering, it’s never been cleaned and was green with algae.

Car park looked like a dump with loads of old building materials left all over the place (good for some kids who used it as ramps /kickers for their bikes)

Toilets were not clean when we arrived and not cleaned once whilst we were there. No toilet roll, no soap (both ran out on day 2 of 4).

Bins/recycling not tidied up once and not fit for purpose. Given the limited number of pitches, this doesn’t seem to be collected regularly.

Toilet blocks have been built with incorrect materials (standard ply and CLS) so everything is warped/ falling apart and numerous screws poking through.

Sinks, whilst having hot water (assuming no one else is using a tap or flushing the toilet), flow straight on to the ground. Soap suds and all. Not good for the environment.

No mention in the description of the constant shotgun fire to scare the birds of neighbouring fields starting at 4am

喜欢 The area was clean, tidy and loved the lake setting. Check in was easy and straight forward.

不喜欢 The facilities were awful. There was one working shower for the whole campsite on arrival that then broke and ran cold halfway through the weekend with no fix. Showering my son with cold water was horrendous and left him in tears but no choice after a beach day.

The toilets had no cold water ironically for either tap in the men’s toilets and then when the hand towels ran out a very worn and used towel was left which is very unhygienic for all.

I reported via WhatsApp about the shower with no response and when I spoke to staff she said there was no fix and did apologise.

For the price paid (we know it was bank holiday) the facilities definitely should be in working order.

I would recommend but the showers need to be in working order. It was the only thing to ruin a brilliant weekend.

喜欢 Beautiful spot, lovely lake and woods - couldn't believe the place was so empty, but the prices might be putting folk off?
My campervan pitch was cheaper than tent, so the pricing structure is a little odd.
Lots of bad feedback if you look at the reviews, but tbf we actually really enjoyed it ! Yes it's basic, the toilets are simple and clean, no frills, same for the washup area, and the shower is an experience - warm, yes, private, less so - but nobody can see anything (and we were pretty much the only folk there it felt like) - but it's all part of the rustic charm ! And it looks like the site is a work in progress, so I bet it's constantly improving, but you can't improve that lake view and woodland - that's unchangeable !
Spoke to the guy in charge on the phone, Nigel I think - he was super helpful, so too was Blaze the host on site
Oh, and the big firepits were awesome !

喜欢 It is a truly beautiful location but...

不喜欢 ... it is not peaceful, as advertised. It says "the camping field is peaceful and quiet," and repeats the word "peaceful" again in the next sentence, but there are bird scarers which sound like shot guns placed all round, meaning from 4.45am to 11.30pm you feel like you're being shot at. It is really jarring! And very noisy. It spoils the whole experience. We left after one night. Owner refused to discuss on phone, insisted on an email which he said would be responded to within 7 days (which felt a bit much!), but we still haven't heard anything and we're past that point. Not promising! Looking at previous reviews suggets this has been known about for well over a year, so leaving the "peaceful" description feels like false advertising.

喜欢 the location just outside of Holt is absolutely beautiful.

不喜欢 While the website mentions a lake for kids to paddle in, we were disappointed to find numerous signs prohibiting swimming upon arrival. This was particularly challenging to explain to my excited son, who was looking forward to splashing around.

During check-in, we were directed to the 'welcome hut,' which turned out to be nonexistent. With no one around and a lack of signage, we found ourselves guessing where to go next.

The campsite itself is somewhat cramped, with no designated spots, which made it feel quite crowded. Unfortunately, we also had a campervan nearby playing loud music late into the night.

Additionally, the washing-up facilities & toilets appeared to be in dire need of cleaning.

For safety reasons, we do not allow swimming, and the website should reflect this. We are taking that photo down and updating the description immediately.

We are also sorry for the confusion at check-in. The lack of a 'welcome hut' and clear signage is a failure on our part. We are also sorry that the crowded layout and a neighbor's loud music negatively impacted your stay. We are reviewing our pitch layout and how we manage noise.

Finally, there is no excuse for the cleanliness issues you encountered. We sincerely apologize that our facilities were not up to standard. We are implementing a more rigorous cleaning schedule to ensure this doesn't happen again.
