For peaceful times in the Peak District National Park take a look at Longfield Farm, a small and friendly site surrounded by Derbyshire countryside. A 10-minute drive from the spa town of Buxton and the medieval town of Bakewell, the pitches here are well situated for all sorts of alfresco activities. In the surrounding Peak District, guests can pull on their walking boots and get stuck into several good hikes along the likes of the Tissington Trail and the Monsal Trail, each within a 25-minute drive. Dogs should find plenty to sniff out on countryside walks too, and cyclists can make use of the area's many dirt paths. For other outdoor activities to get the heart racing, there's kayaking, windsurfing and fly fishing 30 minutes away at Carsington Water, including taster sessions for first-timers. After all this, put your feet up at one of the local country pubs. Handily, there are several within a five-minute drive, including one with a large playground to let the kids blow off some steam while you nurse a well-deserved pint. This is a simple site with basic facilities only, but you’ll have access to water points, three toilets and a shower. If you don’t fancy a bite to eat from one of the local pubs, you're welcome to light up your own barbecue instead. Both Buxton and Bakewell have a good selection of supermarkets, or you can head to one of several local farm shops for meat and extras to put on the grill.

喜欢 Not being to restricted where you pitch your tent Andrew was very helpful and checked we were all right a couple of times throughout the stay witch was nice as we have to young lads and it was there first camping experience.

喜欢 This site was overall absolutely lovely. We came for just under a week in our caravan and were able to have family book as well and pitch up very close to us in their tent. We had lots of space for the kids to play and the views were spectacular.

The weather was great but worth noting that as you're high up with excellent views, that also comes with very windy weather!

Other reviews have mentioned a lot of noise from farm animals, this site is surrounded by working farm land, so you do get a bit of noise from livestock, but we quite liked that, and loved being visited by 3 very friendly cats!

The facilities here, as noted by other campers, are fairly basic, which was fine when using a combination of caravan and site facilities, but we would have struggled a bit for any length of time in just a tent. Will absolutely be back to this site, thanks for a lovely stay.

不喜欢 These things wouldn't stop us from coming back, but compared to a number of other sites we've visited over the last couple of years, the facilities at this one don't quite live up to the tariff. We stayed for 6 nights and by our the 3rd night (at a weekend in summer holidays, the site was busy) the toilet block had run out of toilet roll so we took our own down, and there was no hand wash from the start. (We did have a message from the owner at the start of our stay, so I'm sure I could have messaged them about this, but to be honest it didn't really occur to me until the end of our trip.)

Also we didn't need to use the washing up facilities much as we used our caravan, and while we stayed we had lovely weather, but these were not under cover so would have been a bit miserable to use in the rain.

Overall, for the price I think the wash block could do with a little bit of TLC (or at least checking by the site owner more regularly in busier times).

喜欢 Loved the space on the pitches .the driveway was a bit bumpy was lovley seeing all the animals from our caravan and a crazy cockeral.lovley countryside views.visited bakewell and matlock all close by defo reccomend. So easy srlf check in.csnt comment on loos or shower we had our own.

喜欢 Quiet, not over crowded. Left to our own devices, didnt feel like the site was being micromanaged.
Beautiful scenery and views. Very remote location.

不喜欢 Facilities could be better. Only 2 toilets and 1 shower. Clean enough to use but never any soap etc.
Pitch wasn't flat, which made pitching tent a bit trickier.
Only 1 bin for whole site which was quite full.
Also quite far from any amenities, shops, pubs etc

The entrance to the site is on Flagg Lane (not The Jarnett). There is a signpost opposite the turning for Long Field Farm and Lane End Farm Trust. Look out for the fixed sheep pens at the top of the track, then follow the lane down to the site entrance on the right and look for your numbered pitch. If you type Lane End Farm Trust into your sat nav that should take you to the campsite.

If your walking boots are a camping essential, take them over to the Tissington Trail for a fine 13-mile route through the Derbyshire countryside. The route commences a 25-minute drive away in Ashbourne. For a shorter trail, the Monsal Trail is 15 minutes away – it's easier on the feet with a less demanding 8.5-mile route. For adrenaline seekers, Carsington Water is half an hour’s drive away. Here, you can hire kayaking kit or try out windsurfing if you're feeling extra ambitious. If watersports aren't your strong suit, their taster sessions will help to ease you in to the relevant techniques. For other activities that will raise your heart rate, there’s an outdoor pool in Hathersage 25 minutes away and several indoor pools within a 25-minute drive. Further afield, take a whirl on the rollercoasters at Alton Towers, a 40-minute drive away and with plenty to fill a full day. At Matlock Farm Park (30 minutes), a collection of cute animals should keep kids entertained; they can give horse riding a go too or gently feed the lambs if they're seeking some quieter time.
