What customers say
A simple farm site with roomy, flat pitches. Enjoy pretty country views and a calm vibe. Staff are friendly, and seeing farm animals is a plus. Facilities are basic but clean. The road in can be rough. Toilets/showers can be limited when busy. Great for exploring local spots.

We enjoyed our stay Buxton closed drive away basic back to nature 👍
Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite
Liked Great for basic back to nature lots of space between pitches nothing around so in the middle of green around you the animals kept us entertained pig chickens goats pony’s emu lots more some of the kids loved seeing them
Disliked Cockerels yes they are in sink through out the day it didn’t bother us we live in the country but I know it would be a pain for others 3 toilets 1 shower but small site so not a problem just time it for a shower they are building a new shower/ toilet block lane needs attention

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We’re so pleased you enjoyed your stay, and it’s great to hear that the cockerels didn’t bother you. Living in the country, we know they’re part of the charm, although we appreciate they may not suit everyone!
We do advertise our site as having basic facilities, with three toilets and one shower, all cleaned daily. As we’re a small site, this generally works well, but we understand that a little patience may be needed at busy times.
We’re currently building a new shower and toilet block, which we’re really looking forward to having in place. Our prices are currently kept low to reflect the basic facilities, and once the new block is finished, prices will increase accordingly.
Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to welcome you back when the new facilities are ready!B

Liked Solid pitch
Disliked I’ve seen better facilities in third world countries
Hadn’t been cleaned in ages and no WiFi

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
We’re sorry our small, rural campsite failed to meet your expectations. Perhaps our modest facilities, working farm surroundings and lack of WiFi were a little too far removed from the luxury you’re accustomed to.
For future reference, we would recommend booking a five-star hotel with a concierge, room service and reliable internet. It may prove a more suitable environment for your requirements.
As for your private comment about refugees, we find that particularly distasteful. We welcome guests from all backgrounds, and we would never judge someone’s worth by where they come from or their circumstances.
Your comparison with third-world countries is quite a statement. We hope your next holiday provides the facilities and company you feel you deserve.
lovely quiet site in a great location.

Powered grass campsite
Liked Follow the instructions they have set out for you regarding getting there and use google maps.
Once you enter there is a thin car path with pitches on either side, be sure to go slow and quietly if you are returning late. There are low walls with animals which we loved as a view. The pitch surface was flat with plenty of grass space even after the car and tent were on it. Not a huge place with lots to do. The electirc hook up and a water tap were super close.
Animals surrounding such as sheep, cows and a horse. Although we didn't see them but the sound of cockrels in the morning was nice for us. There were 2 cats and chickens roaming around on site. My 3 year old loved this along with seeing the other animals. My son who is 13, had plenty of space for a game of football. Leading further down, a short walk, are two buildings. The larger one has sinks as you walk in and one toilet room and beside that another room with a toilet and large shower. There was toilet roll and soap but no hand towels. I was surprised any of this being here as we brought our own, so a bonus.
Good for newbies like us camp testing as a family and wanting to be close to something we booked. It was an added bonus with the animals so close for the kids to see. It is more of a relaxed place, wasn't loud / noisy and great to see the stars!
Stayed for one night, our first ever camp and we would happily return.
Disliked -Shower tray had dirt/grime which a bit of bleach and a scrub wouldn't sort out. -Biffa bin near toilets was overflowing.
-Othwr building with toilet and sink had no door, open for all to see.
Not a negative as it's not their fault at all, just for those that may have the same trouble, just our rubbish car:
We followed the satnav (built in the car) instructions but still took us to the front. Used Google maps satnav on my phone and worked perfectly.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback and for pointing these things out.
We’re sorry the shower tray wasn’t as clean as it should have been. We’ll make sure this is checked and given a more thorough clean.
We’re also aware that the Biffa bin near the toilets can fill up quickly, and we’re looking at ways of managing the waste and increasing capacity where possible.
Just to clarify regarding the small outer building with the toilet and sink and no door, this is our chemical waste disposal point, rather than a general toilet facility, so it is intentionally open for access.
Thank you also for mentioning the satnav issue. We’ll bear that in mind as it may be helpful to let future guests know that Google Maps brings them to the correct entrance.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback and hope you otherwise enjoyed your stay.

Liked Basic amenities but everything needed for a short break.
Disliked Unfortunately on both evenings new guests were permitted to arrive after 9:30pm, at a time when the rest of the campsite was settling down for the night. On the first night, the arriving guests spent well over an hour setting up a trailer tent including using a loud drill well past 10pm. The same situation was then repeated on the second night when further late arrivals were allowed onto the site. Again, they were setting up a trailer tent late in the evening accompanied by more children and considerable noise which was particularly disruptive when other campers were trying to settle and sleep. I appreciate that the behaviour of these guests is not necessarily a reflection on the campsite itself however I do feel that the situation could have been avoided with more consideration for the other guests, particularly when it doesn’t seem like a one-off occurrence.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked The area is great for walks and having farm land is gives a sense of fresh air and the Peak district direct routes to Monyash village and Buxton town
Disliked Cockrels and chickens crowing all night and had no sleep,, also another aroma that wouldnt go away from the waste bins over flowing
Would stay again but at the top of the site so that the sounds cant be heard from 4am

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
Unfortunately, if you’re giving the site 3/10 because you could hear the chickens and cockerels, and because of an overflowing waste bin, it’s quite clear that Longfield Campsite simply isn’t the right site for you.
The chickens and cockerels are part of the rural surroundings and, as with any countryside site, we cannot guarantee complete silence—particularly from animals that don’t exactly work to a timetable!
As for the bins, we have already acknowledged that this is something we are looking at improving. Unfortunately, some campers use the bins for far more than normal household waste, including broken equipment and large boxes, which quickly fills them up.
You say you would stay again but would choose the top of the site to avoid the noise. Given your 3/10 rating, I’d suggest it’s probably best that you don’t bother booking again and choose a campsite more suited to what you’re looking for.
We’re a small, rural campsite—not a luxury, silent retreat—and we make no apologies for the countryside atmosphere that comes with it
Lovely little campsite - perfect for that quiet break away
Powered grass campsite
Liked The quiet campsite with great connections via car to Buxton and Bakewell. Toilet and shower cleaned once a day by really lovely lady.
Disliked Not really disliked but more awareness for other campers - there are 3 toilet cubicles and one has a shower in it. The shower is warm but basic. We noticed other campers complaining but if you're used to camping - you won't mind it at all.
