Fancy settling your caravan in a strategic location that will give you easy access to all sorts of attractions and activities? Take a pitch at Grove Lock Caravan Park, a spacious and well-maintained Bedfordshire site two miles outside of Leighton Buzzard. There’s a lengthy list of things to see and do in this area, so it’s certainly a place where you could easily spend several days without any danger of running out of entertainment. For starters, you might like to try Whipsnade Zoo, Bletchley Park, Woburn Safari Park and Milton Keynes’ Snozone skiing facility – or perhaps head out for walks in the likes of Rushmere Country Park or on the Dunstable Downs? And of course there’s also the option of boarding a train for a day touring the sights of London (an hour away by train). The immediate surroundings are rather lovely here too – the site is right on the banks of the Grand Union Canal for easy waterside wanders, and a very short stroll from the local pub too (how handy). Everything on site has been well thought out to provide the best experience for guests – pitches are large and well spaced, with access to electricity and water plus a well-kept toilet and shower block. Kids and dogs are welcome on site, so feel free to bring along the whole family.

喜欢 The space, the peace & quiet and the choice of facilities

不喜欢 I asked if the sanitary block beside the office was locked at night. I was told it was not.
However, we are early risers, when I went over for my morning shower they were locked. It was too cold to go into the open top block so I passed on my shower

喜欢 Generous sized pitches, welcoming staff, relaxed site, secure gate system, good pub next door.

不喜欢 Shower/toilet block, very tired looking and in desperate need of a decobweb and floor scrub. A mop & bucket to go over after use would probably improve things no end.
Close to the road and trainline so fairly noisy from an early hour.

喜欢 Pitch size was generous. Electric and water on the pitch. Gated access was good for security.
We were informed on the day of arrival that they were short staffed so were given the access details over the phone.

不喜欢 As we never got to see any staff, we didn’t know where all the facilities were and couldn’t find the chemical disposal before we left.
Not very well lit.
No path to the toilets.
The showers were dirty and were in desperate need of a deep clean.
Road and rail noise may bother some people.

Getting out for a walk is certainly a good idea around here, whether you choose to set off along the canal towpath, wander among the woods at Rushmere Country Park (10 minutes’ drive) or see what sort of trails you can find at the National Trust-maintained landscapes at Dunstable Downs (15 minutes) and Ashridge Estate (20 minutes). There are all sorts of historic attractions to explore nearby too, including art-filled Ascott House (five minutes) and heritage rides on Leighton Buzzard Railway (five minutes) as well as the famed Bletchley Park (15 minutes), where you can find out all about the fascinating role the Enigma machine played in World War II and hear the stories of those that worked there. Animal attractions are in good supply here too, so you may like to take the kids to meet big beasts at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo (15 minutes) or Woburn Safari Park, or make friends with cuddlier creatures at Abbotts View Alpacas (15 minutes, advance bookings only) or The Bucks Goat Centre (25 minutes).
