Camping du Pasquier

Jura’s a land known for its mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and vineyards – and all that adds up to a rather fine area for hikes and bike rides, whether you’re just pootling along from the site or heading out for something a little more challenging. If you like to have something more focused to aim for, take a taste of the past at the Royal Saltworks in Arc-et-Senans or delve underground for a tour of the Grottes d’Osselle (both around 35 minutes’ drive). And while the countryside is clearly quite fab around here, it’s worth taking some time to explore the towns too. There’s an excellent Old Town in Dole, plus a fine arts museum and one dedicated to Louis Pasteur (he who brought the world the very concept of vaccination). Dijon (45 minutes’ drive) and Beaune (50 minutes) are well worth a look too, especially if you’re into your food and wine.
