It's free, quick and easy!
- Peaceful park on an island in the river Doubs, with access for canoes
- A 10-minute walk from the centre of Dole; 45 minutes' drive from Dijon
- Fishing lake, bike hire, snack bar and heated pool on site
Take a quick look at the pics of this park and you’d be forgiven for thinking that Camping du Pasquier is out in the middle of the Jura countryside… all that space, all those trees, a fishing lake, canoeing and kayaking just next door…
And indeed this is a place that’s certainly got the peaceful vibe of a rural site – but it’s also most handily located on an island just on the edge of Dole, putting it within 10 minutes’ walk of bars, restaurants, shops and museums (and around a 20-minute stroll from the train station for folk travelling sans automobile).
For many folk that’ll be the best of both worlds – easy access to all the necessities of life coupled with a good chunk of outdoor time. Guests can get directly out onto bike paths and hiking routes, or to the banks of the Doubs river for watersports and boat-based outings, and it’s only a couple of kilometres to a riding centre, a waterpark or a treetop adventure park.
Not that you have to leave the site to get your fix of activity: a heated outdoor pool and a playground should see to that, along with a programme of evening entertainment in summer. A snack bar and takeaway service cater for those who don’t fancy heading out to eat, and you’re welcome to set up your own barbecue too.

Local attractions
Jura’s a land known for its mountains, lakes, rivers, forests and vineyards – and all that adds up to a rather fine area for hikes and bike rides, whether you’re just pootling along from the site or heading out for something a little more challenging.
If you like to have something more focused to aim for, take a taste of the past at the Royal Saltworks in Arc-et-Senans or delve underground for a tour of the Grottes d’Osselle (both around 35 minutes’ drive).
And while the countryside is clearly quite fab around here, it’s worth taking some time to explore the towns too. There’s an excellent Old Town in Dole, plus a fine arts museum and one dedicated to Louis Pasteur (he who brought the world the very concept of vaccination). Dijon (45 minutes’ drive) and Beaune (50 minutes) are well worth a look too, especially if you’re into your food and wine.
