That’s a question you might want to ask if you like the idea of hiking or biking through oak trunks and gliding over the canopies on the Go Ape zipwires. When you’re poring over your map, be sure to circle the Arley Arboretum & Garden (five minutes) to check out some more local and exotic plants. Another local spot is Dudmaston Estate (five minutes), which is a National Trust property hailing from the 17th century – a short look around the parklands and house will make that clear. As for recalling other interesting times in history, the Drakelow Tunnels (10 minutes) are a former underground military complex beneath a country park and the Severn Valley Railway (15 minutes) runs steam train trips between restored stations. Where else might you want to add to your Shropshire itinerary? Well, if you’re a big fan of safari animals and rides, the West Midland Safari Park (15 minutes) is one place. Watersports are a big part of Bewdley (15 minutes) on the River Severn, while at Merry Hill Centre Brierley Hill (half an hour) there’s a shopping centre and retail park where you can search for bargains.
