Meet lilly and primrose, the rare-breed sheep

Looking for a secluded rural bolthole for the kids and dogs? Keen for a taste of countryside adventure on a back-to-basics farm site? One with spacious and level grass pitches sheltered by mature trees? New Berry Farm, near Stickney in Lincolnshire, could hit the spot with you. This is almost wild camping, so please note there is no running water on this site, and no electricity either – come prepared with torches for moving around after dark. You will also want to bring your own toilet facilities, as there are none on site. With a backdrop of daily life on a small working farm, the simple site has plenty of room for children to run around and play safely, and there are masses of woodland and field walks for exercising your canine chums too. Please note that small livestock may be roaming and bear this in mind. Ask the farm owners if you’d like an introduction to their rare-breed sheep (you can sometimes help with lambing in season) and free-range hens. Delicious farm-fresh eggs are often on sale for you to cook up on the barbecue (bring your own kit from home) for breakfast. The A16 (five minutes’ drive) gives easy access to local pubs, and there’s a local store in Stickney (also five minutes) for stocking up on anything you need for an outdoor meal (barbecues are permitted, but you'll need to bring your own). For bigger shopping expeditions, head for the supermarkets in Spilsby (15 minutes).

New Berry Farm is in pole position when it comes to entertaining the kids. The Ark Wildlife Park and Rescue Zoo Lincolnshire (five minutes' drive) is home to rare big cats, reptiles and raptors, and children can feed endangered tigers at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park (10 minutes). If that doesn’t wear them out, let them loose on the rides at Fantasy Island Adventure Park or take them to Skegness beach (both half an hour), which has all manner old-fashioned fun in the summer, from fairgrounds to donkey rides and an amusement arcade on the pier. This is also a handy base if you’re interested in aviation history, with an aircraft viewing area at RAF Coningsby (20 minutes), plus exhibitions at Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (10 minutes) and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (20 minutes). And if you’re simply looking forward to getting hiking boots on and being out in gorgeous countryside, the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (half an hour) is waiting to be explored on foot or by bike, with numerous trails from family-centric to challenging.

Tomt för husvagn utan elektricitet på gräs

Tyckte om: We were a little apprehensive when we pulled up to New Berry farm with not another tent or camper insight. (Definitely think that may have been due to the weather forecast now.) But the owner couldn't have been any more welcoming. We were directed to a less boggy area with the camping field been very wet due to the rain we'd had over the past few weeks. We pitched up went for a little bike ride to the local pub and came back for a bbq. The owner was out sorting the animals so we went for a little look there's chicken, Cockerell, rabbits, sheep,Goats, ducks, ferits ect. We were very lucky that a lot of the animals had just had babies out little boy was so happy to see them all. During the night the heavens opened and the rain poured. We struggled to get off the pitch the next morning but the owner and his family where straight in to help, towing and pushing us out onto the road. We will be back as there's lots more to explore in this area we'll just make sure it hasn't been raining for weeks beforehand! (Thankyou again)
