This peaceful lakeside retreat is a veritable pup's paradise: not one, but two large off-leash exercise areas and lead walks, a lake to paddle in and heaps of long countryside walking trails to take their humans out and about on. Two licensed fishing lakes, separate from the dog-friendly swimming lake, are also on site; day tickets are available to purchase on site. Near Lydney in Gloucestershire, Forest Oak Farm is a friendly dog-centred farm estate that lies between the banks of the River Severn and the Forest of Dean, and very warmly welcomes dog owners and their canine compadres to come spend some time there; since opening in 2012, the site has been expertly cultivated by the Dodson family – who also run a fab dog training centre on the farm – to provide a scenic spacious site and a welcoming atmos to all. Set out over 20 acres of fields, lakes and woodland filled with mature trees, this is a well-equipped park with plenty of 10-amp metered electric hook-ups and a bathroom block with toilets, showers, accessible facilities, a washing-up area and a laundry room. Foodwise, you can take your barbecue bits down to the smashing lakeside picnic area for an alfresco feast by the water. The site also has two large fenced dog exercise areas. Off site, there are heaps of good places to eat out around in Lydney and a little further afield around Blakeney, Alvington, Parkend and Clearwell – just ask the Dodsons about their favourite dog-friendly food joints.

Tyckte om This campsite is great for dogs and their owners! There are two well sized exercise areas for dogs as well as a swimming lake. It's a relatively small site so feels more personal. The facilities were clean and sufficient.

Tyckte om It was a lovely site plenty of room showers was great very clean and tidy very nice to walk around have BBQ the pounds was nice with the ducks but I did not like the arraignment about the electricity you could only use one thing at a time in the caravan you could not put the kettle on with the toaster it went of or the microwave
on others sites that week were we stated we had no trouble there and we had WiFi as well

Tyckte inte om The only thing I did not like is that some people had more that one dog like the lady behind use had 3 big dogs made her pich like a dogs kennel and they were yapping all the time so very annoying must have been 10 dogs in a small area
Were I was also there was no shops just in case you needed anything EG : Milk bread the little things
Also you was looked in at 10:30 if you needed to get out you had to tell them
That fine but have a gate with a code on

Tyckte om Forest Oak Farm is one of the rare campsites where the owners have created a man made tranquil wildlife site where they have sympathetically blended it with generous space for each pitch hardstanding or grass. The toilets showers and kitchen area are maintained by them to a high standard. Large fenced off areas to exercise your dogs and a seperate dog pond.
Well manicured lawns and pitches, breakfast tables and portable bbq frames to keep fires off the ground.
Friendly straight talking owners. Reasonable prices good central location to explore the Forest of Dean.
No wifi which made it a better break and not a negative thing at all.

Tyckte om Friendly relaxed, lots of space for people and children. Excellent dog runs. Especially liked the really good fence around the dog run as one of ours is a chaser but she couldnt get out of this run.
Nice friendly atmosphere and very good toilets.
Don't know if there was WiFi but we didn't need it and all the kids seemed to be having a great time playing in the field.

Tyckte om Beautiful quiet site, plenty of space for games and areas to explore. The toilet/shower block were kept clean. We were put next to friends as requested. We saw frogs, swifts, a woodpecker, ducks and a shrew which made our stay extra special.

Please be aware there are a number of farms using the same postcode. Do not turn off the A48 as the site entrance is on the main road. Keep going until you see a large white house between Lydney and Blakeney Village, called 'The Willows', with white painted stones around the driveway and garden. Forest Oak Farm is in a splendid spot for easy access to the Forest of Dean, the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the wider Gloucestershire, south Wales and south-west England areas. Adventurers can test their mettle on the high ropes course at Go Ape, five miles from base, and over at Puzzlewood, eight miles away, there's a walking trail that meanders through an ancient 14-acre forest filled with towering trees and rugged rock formations. At Clearwell Caves, right next door to Puzzlewood, explore its sprawling natural cave system and learn all about the forest's 4,500-year iron ore and ochre mining history. The Forest Of Dean, around half an hour's walk from the park, is full to the brim with woodland walks, cycle tracks, lakes and secluded valleys. Be sure to bring your binoculars, because the forest is home to wild boar and deer that can (and should) be admired from afar. The smashing Symonds Yat Rock is a mere 25-minute drive away from Forest Oak Farm and provides visitors with plenty of fun outdoorsy and sightseeing opps; take one of the many waymarked trails that link it with the River Wye and a number of circular walks into the surrounding forest, visit the ancient Iron Age hill fort and – if you're there between April and August – point your trusty binoculars towards the nearby cliffs to spot the peregrine falcons that nest and hunt around them. Canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and mountaineering are available around the village of Symonds Yat too.
