Dartmoor Shepherd's Huts

Gostou Cleanliness of the hut/site, it was also fully equipped with everything we needed.

Peacefulness (there’s a no music policy which makes a huge difference)

Scenery/location is tranquil

Highly recommend if you just want to get back to nature and escape the rat race!

Não gostou As others have mentioned ….a hook on the bathroom door would be very helpful for towels!
Everything else was perfect though!

Gostou Super clean, small size, sheltered with lots of trees, dark skies, no traffic noise and great location for walking, and local facilities - including pub, shop, tea room and amazing second hand charity bookshop. Good facilities including on site fridge and good phone charging lockers.

Não gostou Pitches though a decent size are quite close together so this magnifies noise and other issues. Lack of on site presence of owners/staff (we didn't see them the whole time) - just a walk around of an evening/morning at busy times would perhaps have done more than just signs at supporting compliance with rules re dogs and noise which undermined our enjoyment on some eves. Appreciate it's a tricky balance and people don't like to feel policed but people didn't even seem to have read the rules re dogs when I raised it with them. It was much better on the Sunday eve than Fri/Sat.

Gostou My daughter and I had a lovely 3 nights stay. The hut was beautifully presented, clean and had clever storage. The beds were very comfortable with proper mattresses. We loved how beautiful, peaceful and quiet the campsite was and would love to visit again.

Não gostou We were a little confused which hut was ours on arrival as we were tired after a long journey and expected our name on the door.

Gostou The stunning location, quietness and the laid back booking system. The facilities were all clean and well managed, so good to have the fridges/ freezers and washing machine if needed. There is a footpath that takes you up onto the moors only a few yards from the entrance.

I’d suggest a less slippery floor or some mats in the shower block, and a shower curtain to come across the shower doors, preventing towels/clothing getting wet.

Gostou A beautiful little haven on the moor! Such a peaceful spot with all the facilities you need for a really comfortable, relaxing stay. We loved the large pitches, trickling stream and the much needed shady trees!

Gostou This place embraced simplicity whilst meeting practical needs at a good hygeinic standard. All amenities were were very clean and the fact that there is no reception made the experience more natural. I would come back
