Into the valley – and onto the beach… If you’re seeking seclusion and space as well as sand and surf on your north Devon holiday, it’s likely you’ll be hugely happy with the location of Hele Valley Holiday Park. This park is in a placid sheltered valley bordered by hills, but a short walk away from Hele Bay beach, the South West Coast Path and the lively town of Ilfracombe. Plonk yourself at this very friendly family-run park for all sorts of north Devon delights: a seven-minute saunter will take you to the watersports, rockpools and beach of Hele Bay; 20 minutes on foot gets you to the centre of Ilfracombe, and the three-mile surfing stretch of Woolacombe is within 20 minutes’ drive. Family fun at the likes of Watermouth Castle, the Milky Way Adventure Park and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is also easy to find from here – and as the kids will no doubt point out, a shorter drive means more time among the meerkats and ball pits… The specialised nature trail on site will keep the kids busy spotting all sorts of species at the bird, bat and dormouse boxes, feeding tables and bird baths; afterwards, send them off to the play area to wear them out ready for a good night’s sleep (hopefully…) ‘Immaculate’, 'second to none’ and ‘some of the best I’ve encountered’ are a few of the laurels lavished on the toilets and showers, which have hot water, accessible facilities and individual cubicles. The park also has a launderette and a washing-up area. Supplies are close by too: two pubs serving food within five minutes’ walk, and supermarkets and independent shops over in Ilfracombe.

Gostou Site is lovely - quiet, within 10 mins easy walk to Hele Bay, nice sized pitches, excellent shower/toilet facilities.
Staff are helpful, play park is great and there is a lovely shaded nature walk. We saw so many butterflies around the park and could hear owls at night.

Não gostou Only problem was closing the showers, toilets and washing up area 11.30am-1pm to clean them.
This was tricky as we were in tents and had no other access to toilet/sinks.

Gostou The showers/toilets were lovely and clean. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Nice play area, although it was long and thin and you aren't allowed ball games.
The pitches included water and electric.
Freezer to use.

Não gostou No camp fires allowed
The toilets were a bit of a walk away so when you needed a wee in the night it's a little trek 😬
Shaded so you lost the sun early.

Gostou The studio pod was modern, clean and had everything we needed.
The staff were very happy, helpful and friendly.
The campsite was peaceful, relaxing and extremely quiet..Perfect to wind down from busy working life.

Não gostou There was nothing we disliked, but would suggest extending the higher fence surrounding the decking and hot tub as people walking past were all looking in.

Gostou Well maintained and clean site with generous sized pitches. Toilet/shower block clean and modern. Quiet location alongside wooded copse.
WiFi reception was excellent, albeit a little slow, however it's free so can't complain.

Não gostou Only one thing, could you please put a small shelf in the shower cubicles so I have somewhere to place my soap, shampoo etc!

Gostou The site is well laid out, and the served pitches were a bonus. Very clean shower block, and very welcoming staff. Close to Ilfracombe and Hele bay. Bus stops very close. Great wifi reception

Não gostou A little more privacy between some plots would be helpful, and the motorhome service point a little small to back into.

Gostou Very helpful friendly staff.
Clean, modern shower blocks. Toilets and showers together.
Dog walk on site.
Setting was great. Walking distance to beach and wonderful mill tea room set in the trees. Easy distance of ilfrocombe.

Não gostou Pitch allocation. We are twin axle and didn’t feel that our pitch was big enough compared with others on site.
Placed near playground and we are adult only party. Very noisy kids in playground until after closing time of 8pm. Bin emptying daily in compound opposite us which was also very noisy.
Only one hook within shower cubicle.

Gostou Lovely greeting on arrival, gave us a detailed walk through of locations to go to, walks for the dogs etc.
Site was very clean, organised and great to be able to recycle etc.

Wouldn't hesitate to come back again.

My one question as not come across this before is why are the toilet/showers have a coded entry system?
I'm terrible with remembering codes haha!

lovely views also the great little walk through the nature path with the dog and great wifi.

Não gostou Just the tightness of the bend getting in and out to the site but nothing major.

Atrações locais

Setting off to see your surroundings is easy – the South West Coast Path can be accessed from Ilfracombe to climb up to Hillsborough and pass Hele Bay and Watermouth to Combe Martin. But do take quite some time in Ilfracombe first to browse around its shops, galleries, gardens and museum, then have a boat or fishing trip out from its handsome harbour… Travelling slightly further afield, Watermouth Castle (five minutes’ drive) is an odd but utterly fab mix of Victorian treasures, modern rides, maze and gnomes in their very own land, while Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park (15 minutes) has a whole menagerie of animals and animatronic dinosaurs around its 25 acres. And do try The Big Sheep (40 minutes) for sheep racing, horse whispering and a massive indoor play area. For other days out, spot exotic animals at Exmoor Zoo (25 minutes) or make your way to The Milky Way Adventure Park (50 minutes) to try Devon’s tallest rollercoaster, watch swooping birds of prey demonstrations, feed baby goats or slide around the huge indoor play centre.
