Whether it’s glades, moors or clifftops you've got your sights set on, walking and cycling are quite the treat in the New Forest National Park… and handily, Tom’s Field is a friendly place to start your engine, with New Forest Water Park 10 minutes’ drive away and beaches half an hour away in case you fancy a plunge down into the seaside. This is a small, family-run site, open on weekends and bank holidays only, with the family around the site most of the time so that you can count on a helping hand if you need it. The local community shop visits the site each morning to bring fresh bread and basic groceries and the site also sells wood and barbecue fuel (and hires out barbecues or fire buckets). Of course, you’ll be able to grab any extras you need from the wide range of shops in Fordingbridge, 10 minutes’ drive away. There’s wild swimming in the river Avon here, by the way, so you might want to wear your swimming gear. You won’t have to go off site to treat yourself to some forest scenery either, as the site looks over the woodlands and has access to an open heath and forest land where there are New Forest ponies and cows roaming around. If you’re searching for somewhere to be waited on, the site’s local pub is only 15 minutes’ walk away down the road. There are three more that you can get to with a little longer hike, between 45 minutes’ and an hour’s walk away.

Tenda de safári

Gostou We really loved the campsite. It was friendly, small and just across the road from fields full of the wild New Forest ponies, cattle and donkeys. All of the toilet and shower areas were spotless and we had a very warm welcome on arrival.

Gostou Amazing set up, huge tent pitches, felt so comfortable and welcome, Tom was also super helpful and really went out of his way to help us sort out a punctured tyre. Will definitely be back :)

Gostou Great owners. Really clear instructions on how things work and we were given a fantastic pitch with lovely views.

Coffee and pizza vans were superb too.

Gostou Clean facilities, plenty of space between tents, helpful, friendly staff, great location. I had a small issue with a leak in the tent and the staff couldn't have been more apologetic and helpful, they gave me the option to move to an alternative safari tent (which wasn't necessary as it only leaked the one time), dried out my sons sleeping bag and changed the bedsheet that had taken the brunt of the leak (luckily on the end of the bed!) with zero disruption to our break.

Não gostou It would have been nice to have at least one toilet down the end of the field we were in, it was a long walk to the other end in the middle of the night! The road is very noisy at night but this is probably due to heavy traffic due to diversions around the roads that have been damaged by fire nearby.

Gostou Location, hosts, view, sunset, generous space, trouble free neighbors, walking routes starting right from the campsite. Proximity to attractions and retail shops.

Não gostou Only one - too close to the road, which in our case was noisy. This maybe was caused by the closed roads nearby. 8 out of 10 people in our party found it perfect fine, but 2 of us had trouble sleeping.

Gostou Being put in the slightly quieter place of the campsite. The owner very welcoming and friendly. On the edge of the new forest so easy access to different trails. Facilities were good and very clean. All and all strongly recommend.

Não gostou Road very close but in the end Was’nt very noisy so not really an issue . Also very poor phone reception so it’s good to be aware of it.

Gostou Absolutely stunning location with views stretching miles ahead. Campsite land was ideal - a slim long stretch of land meaning a row of tents either side of a track. Perfect for kids playing with neighbours and easy to see where they were. Closed entrance gate also provided peace of mind for us parents as a completely enclosed site.

Lovely owners, additional facilities of fridges & freezers thoughtfully provided. We really enjoyed the morning coffee van too!

Toilets and showers were clean and generous in size. Another amazing view from the loo!

Pitch sizes were very generous, with room for extra large tent, gazebo, car and sitting space without being on top of your neighbour. No extra charge for gazebo either which was appreciated as shade was necessary in the hot weather!

Will definitely visit again: a fabulous site and perfectly located!
