Looking for a lush location to settle down in while exploring Lakeland? Step foot in the family-run Setmabanning Caravan Park, then step off site towards top spots like Keswick and the Castlerigg Stone Circle (10 minutes’ drive). This site really is very easy on the eye: it’s got spectacular views of Blencathra and the surrounding fells, making it fab for frolicking about the Lake District (or just having a bit of R&R in a rural bolthole). During a break here, the more energetic among your travel crew could tackle the Blencathra, Skiddaw and Helvellyn ranges, all within about a 20-minute drive, while strollers seeking easier trails might prefer the pretty footpaths and cycle tracks around the local valley and towards Keswick. Sticking to the site is always an option too – being a working farm, there’s lots to see and do, whether it’s watching the sheep being sheared and the cows going out into the fields with their calves or feeding the chickens and ducks as they wander by. When it comes to filling your own stomach, it’s a 25-minute walk to the centre of the nearest village, Threlkeld, which has two country pubs serving Cumbrian food and ales. Meals are also to be had at the golf club, and the Threlkeld Quarry & Mining Museum (10 minutes) is worth a quick nosey around as well.

Gostou Great location near Keswick, trails and paths to take you in, also handy bus nearby. Loved the farm setting, no complaints from us, hopefully we will be back again soon.

Gostou Lovely quiet setting, nice farm shop for essentials and snacks. Farm setting, so animals to visit :)

Não gostou Facilities were run down, not sure when cleaned as full of spiders and webs. So for what we paid, compared to other sites (caravan and camping club) which were a couple pound more, the facilities lacked.

Didn't enjoy the pitch on the first night as it was a couple metres from the chemical waste deposal point.

Gostou Great location. The full service pitches are very good. Nicely laid out site. Very good shop.

Não gostou The toilet and shower facilities are very poor. They very old, reminiscent of what would be expected in the 1970's.

Gostou Great site in stunning location. Pitch was very generous with own water supply and nicely screened with dry stone wall. Very friendly hosts.

Gostou We loved the location, the size of the pitches and the space. The host was accommodating and friendly. The views were stunning, we loved the experience of staying on the working farm with all the farm animas around. The flapjacks and the oat cookies from the farm shop were delicious.

Não gostou The toiles and showers are dated although in working order.

Gostou 3rd visit n yet again had a great time.
Weather was brilliant, views from site / location are fab. Short walk to local pub in Threlkeld which does lovely food n nice bear garden
Great location to explore the lakes
Yes showers are old but always clean and plenty of hot water so no complaints
Little farm shop has too many tempting treats
Great value for money

The site is on a cycle path leading to Keswick, so you could either drive to town (10 minutes) or ride there by bike. Once you’ve arrived, have a left-of-field hour or so learning about the history of pencils at the Derwent Pencil Museum before gazing at artefacts dug up from around Lakeland in the Keswick Museum & Art Gallery. Just on the outskirts of town is the Castlerigg Stone Circle, dating back as far as the Neolithic area; check this historic spot out, then trudge up to the 2,848-foot Halls Fell Top at the peak of Blencathra. The mighty mountain ranges of Skiddaw (20 minutes’ drive) and Helvellyn (10 minutes) are also local to the site if you’re up for another hiking challenge. As you’re in the Lake District, you’ll surely want to be inspecting some of the area’s bodies of water too. The closest to Keswick is Derwent Water (15 minutes) – ace for boat trips around the Theatre by the Lake – but Thirlmere (10 minutes) and Ullswater (20 minutes) are within easy reach as well.
