Take it easy in the County Durham countryside – everything at Eden Grange Glamping has been set up with relaxing family breaks in mind. Whether you’re stopping over for a night to break up a journey on the A1(M) or using the place as a base for a longer stay, you’ll be made to feel very welcome at this comfortable site on the edge of Shildon (five minutes’ drive, or a 15-minute walk). There’s a laidback rural atmosphere on site, with each of the glamping units surrounded by trees and overlooking lakes where you can go fishing. However, the centre of town is only just over a mile away, so you’ll be within easy reach of shops, places to eat and things to do, including the leisure centre, the heritage trail, walks in Hackworth Park and events at the civic hall or the local football club. You can also walk to Locomotion, part of the National Railway Museum, in about 20 minutes. A restaurant on site serves up breakfasts and dinners that you can eat in or take back to your unit. You’ll have your own kitchen facilities too, so you’ll be able to conjure up your own meals if you prefer. Each accommodation also has a proper bed, an ensuite bathroom and heating; bedding and towels are provided. Outside is just as lovely – each unit has its own private outdoor space, so you’ll really feel able to relax out there. There’s outdoor seating, a firepit and (the ultimate luxury?) your own hot tub.

Gostou Very safe, clean and pieceful site.
Will definitely come back.

Não gostou Restaurant closes at 5.30pm. Would love to have had an evening meal.
Takeaway was available though so not a total disaster.

Gostou The campervan pitch with the hot tub, log burner and table. Great space to use, especially as the weather was crap at the time.

Although you weren't far from residential it felt like you were in the middle of nowhere and it was a great location next to the lakes.

It was pitch black and very quiet at night.

Não gostou The hard standing pitch was flooded so maybe they need better drainage.
We weren't to impressed with the takeaway door onsite but that's just tour opinion

Gostou Up there as one of the best sites we’ve ever stayed at — honestly, what is not to like?!

Beautiful scenery, with the lakes and large ponds surrounded by wildlife including fish, turtles, ducks, goats and more. It’s peaceful, tranquil and just a lovely place to unwind.

The site is within walking distance to the Locomotion museum which is free to enter and an amazing day out! Definitely another selling point of the site for families and train enthusiasts alike.

There’s a great play park for little ones, and a fantastic bar serving a brilliant range of food and drinks. We opted for pizzas and chips as a ‘takeaway’ to eat back on our pitch, and they did not disappoint. In fact, the chips were quite possibly the best we’ve ever had!

All of the staff were lovely, but a special mention has to go to the owner, who genuinely went above and beyond for us. The site is also a wedding venue, and you can really see the attention to detail throughout — everything is just so well thought out and beautifully maintained.

And lastly… THE SHOWER! Honestly, it’s better than our shower at home! Luxurious, hot, incredible water pressure, with a HUGE rainfall shower head as well as jets. Absolute heaven after a day out.

We’re already planning our return and would love to try one of the private hot tub pitches next time — they look absolutely stunning.

This is a MUST-TRY site. We stayed with our young children and they loved it just as much as we did. A genuinely restful, relaxing stay in a beautiful setting.

Thank you to everyone at Eden Grange — we’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Gostou Me and my partner stayed here for two nights. We loved the peace and tranquillity away from our busy lives, plus the privacy to enjoy an evenings bbq & hot tub ;) staff were really friendly and always ther if needed. Food on site was amazing too , highly highly recommend! ( Thers a local co-op just outside of site also roughly 1mile walk. Can’t wait to come back to feed my new goat friends also. 😁

Gostou We reckon this place was value for money. We were at Rose the smaller of the three but absolutely no issues and our stay was exactly what we wanted ,a total chill for a couple of days. Definitely recommend

Atrações locais

In the 1820s, during the heyday of the coal-mining industry, Shildon (five minutes’ drive) became a major railway hub. Today this heritage is celebrated at Locomotion, where you can see the world’s first steam locomotive, as well as model railways and a statue of Robert Stephenson, who designed the Stockton and Darlington Railway. There’s something for everyone at Raby Castle, Deer Park & The Plotters’ Forest (20 minutes). Wildlife enthusiasts might head straight to the 200 acres of parkland to admire the resident red and fallow deer, while kids might insist you check out The Plotters’ Forest first, an adventure playground with towers to climb and treetop tunnels to crawl along. Stretching along the River Wear, Durham (25 minutes) has an impressive Norman cathedral that houses the tomb of medieval scholar the Venerable Bede. Climb the Central Tower (it’s only 325 steps…) for far-reaching views of this university city, including Durham Castle.
