Wigmore Lakes

Gostou Location: 20 minutes from Shrewsbury and 20 minutes from Welshpool and Powis Castle.

Facilities: toilet block and excellent showers. Kitchen area. The halfway house takeaway does amazing fish and chips (it's just at the end of the drive).

Pitches: we were the only ones there for two of the nights (though there are some seasonal caravans there that use the facilities). Most of the field is flat and dog owners seemed to clean up after their dogs.

Price: it was cheap.

Não gostou Toilets: could be cleaner. I've seen much worse though at other campsites. Cleaners came Monday morning but they need to do better.

This next one is not a dislike about the site itself, but it did happen so I'm mentioning it.

Other guests: seasonal pitch guests (I assume) made Saturday night not very enjoyable at all.

Gostou Extremely peaceful site with very well kept grounds. We had a hard standing pitch for a quick stop over which was huge for our little VW.
Some confusion upon arrival as I hadn’t received a text or email (We had been without wifi or signal for a few days) but this was quickly resolved.
Key code for the toilet and shower block and please don’t be me and fail to get in on the first 5 attempts! (enter code and turn the handle to the right and not left!)

Não gostou Toilet and shower facilities need some attention very dusty and full of cobwebs and when using the showers the whole place was full of water as it had a wet room set up so take a waterproof bag for your things. (But shower was clean and water was hot and loos stocked with loo roll)
Also no hot water for washing up so we boiled our kettle.

Gostou Peacefulness, the Pools both for walking round and for fishing.
Toilet facilities are close to touring caravans.
All purpose pitches available which makes life a lot easier

Gostou Peaceful, beautiful settings, fantastic facilities, well equipped clean communal kitchen. Clean toilets. Bob made regular checks to ensure people where OK.
Having the cafe / shop at the front of the lakes was very convenient.

Não gostou There is nothing we didn't like.
It would be good to have a little plastic chair/bench in the shower cubicles to sit on to enable it to be a little easier to get dressed especially if you have mobility issues. (a little unsteady balancing).

Gostou Have stayed here a fair few times, pitches are a great size, with hedges between them for privacy. Bob is just lovely and really helpful. Fishing great.

Não gostou We found the showers and toilets to be rather dirty whenever we went in, with doors not locking and never any toilet paper.
That being said, we still return whenever we can so doesn't put us off, we just use the caravan facilities instead of the block.

Gostou Generous pitch sizes, and lovely views. Bob was a great help though out the weekend!! Couldn't have got through it without him! This was our first outing in our caravan and couldn't have asked for a better site to start on.

Não gostou Only issue we had was the sign for the caravan site wasn't visible as it had turned when we entered so we ended up going the wrong way.
