If you owned a narrowboat, could there be any prettier a pastime than pulling up to a farm shop on the historic Oxford Canal? Don’t own a narrowboat just yet? Pull up for an adults-only stay (narrowboat not necessary…) at The Pig Place near Banbury, where groups and dogs are welcome and there's no limit to the number of furry friends that can accompany you. This deliberately basic site is on a working smallholding next to the Oxford Canal, complete with a farm shop where you can buy hot drinks, snacks and cake. The site received a premises licence in 2017 too, so it sells alcohol for sipping on or off site. Bring your camera to be on the tail of some smoking hot pics here: turn your gaze waterwards for photos of narrowboats drawing in to stock up at the farm shop. Facilities at The Pig Place are basic (it has several portable toilets but no showers), but the owners rightly say the attractions on and around the site more than make up for it: whether fishing at the canal (with your own licence) just adjacent to the farm or messing about on the water with your own kayak or paddleboard. There are also plenty of scenic local walks to set out onto, including the canal towpath.

Este parque para adultos tem ambiente calmo, staff simpático, loja, bar e food truck. Fica ao lado do Canal Oxford, ótimo para passeios. Amam a vibe descolada, música ao vivo e fogueiras. Embora amem o local e o ambiente, os banheiros químicos são um ponto fraco. Alguns notam barulho da M40 e ferrovia.

The four pigs in the pen was a bonus
I was traveling on a motorbike so when I arrived I was drenched through . The staff let me hang my gear up to drip dry in their lean too display area made my life so much easier thanks for the help

Gostou One of the most welcoming sites we have stayed on. Owners were super friendly and accommodating when we asked to pick with friends. Shop was really well-stocked. We really enjoyed staying there.

Não gostou The site was very busy as it was Bank Holiday weekend and the portaloos got a bit smelly in the evening.

Não gostou Nothing to dislike as it’s clear what you are getting when you book. So as long as you are happy with no electric, no showers, no hot water for washing up, borehole (clean) water and portaloo toilets then no issues. We used our own facilities. Maybe £25 is a little pricy without these things though.

Gostou Very nice relaxed vibes here, helpful and friendly owners and guests. The owner leant us some tools to fix our tent box and we loved the morning visit from the resident dogs. We visited during the heatwave when firepits and bbq were banned for good reason so would definitely like to come back again when its less crispy and get the full experience with weekend action. Thank you Pig Place.

Gostou The coolness of this site, the food and bar, loved the quiz and the sty. Its a very relaxed site and owners really friendly. Right next to the canal. Didn't use the facilities as in motorhome.

Gostou The vibe was fabulous, so chilled. The bar and food truck were great and the entertainment in the Sty was fun. Really unusual and quirky.

Gostou This place is so chilled but also so vibrant the staff are cool they meet and greet you and show you around you chose your pitch which is nice .
Lovely location on the canel with lots of walks and rides .
Good shop on site with an adjoining bar and food van the quiz night on Friday was fun too.
Lots to see lots to do it definitely has the festive feel thanks to the way it is run .
Love the pigs too

The Oxford Canal is one of the oldest mainline canals in England and has walkies all along its 77-mile towpath, passing some of the most scenic spots and villages in Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. It’s mostly easy hoofing along the whole route with few hills: carve a slice into a day trip or afternoon amble. Pack a picnic (of bacon sarnies) and go to Banbury four miles away to tackle the modernised towpath walk from Banbury to Cropredy via the newly added glass bridge, waterworks gallery and museum spanning the canal along the way. A day at dramatic Stratford-upon-Avon should be on the cards in any holiday too.
