If you’re keen to stay in the open air but don’t want to miss out on a nightly pint in a cosy local, Swan Lake Caravan Park might just be the place for you. The grass pitches at this adults-only site sit behind the White Swan pub, a traditional boozer in the Nottinghamshire village of Dunham on Trent. There are other advantages to staying here besides the proximity to the pub: the site is just off the A57 (and therefore easy to reach), plus there are bus stops nearby, and it will welcome your canine buddy. On top of that, it has its own fishing lake. Ready to explore the Nottinghamshire countryside? A 10-minute walk takes you to the Dunham Toll Bridge and the path that runs along the River Trent. Then you can walk (or cycle) south towards Fledborough Viaduct and on to Girton Lakes (a five-mile hike); or head north, towards Torksey Castle (about four miles). If you’re feeling adventurous, the Skellingthorpe Walk is a 10-mile path leading all the way into Lincoln (allow at least four hours on foot… or 20 minutes by car). The site has modern toilet and shower facilities, freshwater points and chemical waste disposal, plus an area where you can wash up after your barbecue.

Gostou We were lucky because it wasn’t that busy.
The sit is very clean and tidy.

Não gostou Only one shower per sex & one for the disabled, which you can use but would prefer to leave that one for them that need it.
If the site is full you would have to wait your turn. Which could cause a bit of unease. Bigger toilet block and then it would be a definite 10

Gostou Very spacious pitches, lovely site. The pub is very handy and the food was good. The warden Ralf was friendly and informative about the area.

Não gostou Could do with more showers i think when the site is full there could be a long wait to get a shower as there's only one in each toilet block and a disabled one.

Gostou Easy access from the main road. Welcoming. Great sized pitches. Laid back approach. Shower, toilet block, elson point, EHU. Security barrier
Swan pub on the way in.
We parked up in and American RV. Some pitches will easy take 30 to 38 ft. Give them a buzz first.
Adults only site too!

Não gostou Not really a "dislike".... Just choose your moment for having your shower. One male, one female, one disabled shower unit.

Gostou The public house food was amazing all home cooked

Não gostou Cleanliness of the ladies toilets only 1 shower which gave off cold water even when setting on highest heat. Used the disabled shower which intermittently gave off scalding water then freezing cold

Gostou Friendly, welcoming staff and lovely, well kept campsite. Toilets and showers were super clean and always plenty of hot water, with no extra cost or timed showers. Great to have a wash up area inside too. Well positioned site for touring the area and we spent lots of time in and around Lincoln,the cathedral, castle and jail museum, Lincolnshire life museum and Steep Hill ( accurately named!

Não gostou Nowhere close to buy essentials like milk. Not perfect when in a M/H with no other transport. Luckily for us we were with friends

Gostou Wow what was there not to like? Generously sized pitches, warden - Ralph, definitely makes this site, he welcomes you with a warm welcome and cheeky grin. Always on hand if you need him and if you dont he'll come and say hello anyway and check everythings ok. Not far to the pub - 2 min walk max which is dog friendly EVERYWHERE, toilets and shower block clean, NO check out time and even if you were packing up along comes the lovely Ralph to remind you not to rush! Despite storm dave paying us a visit we loved our stay and after leaving (within 5 mins of departure) have booked again!

Não gostou Absolutely NOTHING (apart from the sun besting down on us on departure day)

The attractions at Sundown Adventureland (five minutes’ drive) were built with younger visitors (under the age of 10) in mind – kids can ride a tractor or meet the characters from The Wizard of Oz on the Yellow Brick Road snaking through the forest. They'll also believe pigs can fly on the Giddy Piggies ride. Explore 3,000+ acres of parkland at National Trust - Clumber Park (25 minutes), a former ducal estate that now welcomes visitors – whether on foot or bike. Check out the Gothic chapel, pause for a picnic by the lake or in the Pleasure Grounds, or sniff out the Rose Garden, with its dozens of varieties. When in Nottinghamshire, of course you have to pay a visit to Sherwood Forest (half an hour), said to have been home to Robin Hood and his merry men. There are historical reenactments celebrating this folklore hero, or you can simply explore wooded trails, looking out for birds like woodpeckers and pipits.
