Once you arrive at Abbey Home Farm, 10 minutes’ drive from Cirencester, there’s absolutely no need to move off the site for the duration of your Gloucestershire stay. Why would you ever leave this 1,600-acre farm? Let’s start with the stunning views over Cotswolds fields, and move on to the organic farm shop packed with home-grown fruit and veg. It also sells dairy produce and meat from the farm cows for barbecues (bring your own from home), and – even better – it’s licensed too. There’s also a popular café that's just the spot for coffee to kick-start the day, plus homemade cakes and veggie lunches. All of this is within a 10- to 15-minute gentle stroll of the remotest holiday spots within the farm's woodlands and fields. The farm site is off-grid, with simple facilities including drinking water straight from a farm borehole, washing-up sinks, gas showers and compost loos tucked into the woods. And to top that, everything is crafted from reclaimed or recycled materials. There are wheelbarrows to roll gear in should you need them, as the pitches are spread all over the farm. Just one thing to remember: this site is not party central, so no noise after 10pm please.

Long Bottom cabana (banheiros privativos, sem eletricidade)

Gostou Beautiful location. Totally private. Nice welcome by the friendly owner. Primitive shepherds huts, but clean (this is NOT glamping). Private eco toilet. We loved the upside down bucket shower. Big kettle to heat water for shower and dishwashing and of course for tea and coffee.

Não gostou No bin provided. In the confirmation it said that we had to take our rubbish home. This really surprised us as we were not going home and we felt that we paid quite well for this simple pitch. We were even more surprised to be told that we should bring our rubbish somewhere else for example a petrol station. We did not need petrol. Being an eco friendly farm shop and campsite, I didn’t feel this was an eco friendly remark.

- love the effort to be eco-friendly
- option to camp by your car or walk your tent further out with a wheelbarrow
- lovely walk from the campsite through some fields and woodland to the farm shop (also a direct option)

Não gostou Lack of bins/recycling stations. Completely understand leave no trace but would be better to have accessible recycling at the shop at least.

Gostou We absolutely loved our stay here! It’s so peaceful, with a gorgeous farm shop and lovely walking trails right from the campsite. The field is beautifully kept and everything was really clean, and the showers were lovely and hot.

Yes, the wash/toilet facilities are basic, but honestly, that’s exactly how camping should be…There’s nothing better than having a shower while looking up at the blue sky ☀️

We had such a lovely stay and genuinely can’t wait to come back

Gostou Beautiful site, with excellent back to basics facilities. The showers were a very enjoyable experience in the hot weather… and we had the most beautiful views of the night sky and stars!

Gostou Lovely friendly staff with great instructions as to where to go, how to access the site etc. Fields to camp in were huge with beautiful views. The compost toilets were remarkably useable and kept up well. It would have been nice to know that we needed to bring our own toilet roll! The showers were fun being completely outdoors with just some wood walls surrounding the cubicles, and with hot water too! Unfortunately neither of the doors locked properly and would randomly swing open while one was showering! We would definitely stay again especially with the access to the lovely farm cafe and shop so close by!

Não gostou Shower locks need to be fixed, and please make a note that there is no toilet roll supplied in the toilets.

Gostou Loved the back to basics nature of the campsite with wonderful views across the farm. The showers were temperamental but during a heatwave, a blast of cold water was fine. Enjoyed seeing the trees whilst showering! Lovely farm trail to explore and the most incredible farm shop just 5 minutes through the woods. Farm staff checked on the site at least twice a day.

Não gostou As it was hot, the compost loos got quite smelly towards by the end of the day but were clean. I struggled with the road noise but I am a light sleeper so unlikely to bother others.

Rent a bicycle from Cotswold eBikes on site, and set off down quiet rural roads to pretty villages built of mellow stone in the Cotswolds National Landscape (20 minutes’ ride). If you’ve got kids on board, make for the lakeside beach and floating inflatables at Cotswold Country Park and Beach (40 minutes), or let them burn off more energy on paddleboards and kayaks at Lake 32 Outdoor Centre (35 minutes).
