You’ll want to spend a bit of time on the beach in Fréjus (10 minutes’ drive), of course, but it’s also worth allocating some hours to wandering through the town, taking in its 12th-century cathedral, its candy-coloured houses and its perhaps unlikely Chinese pagoda. And it’s also worth saving some time for the area’s other beaches… Esclamandes beach, the closest to the site (10 minutes) is a real crowd-pleaser, with family areas, dog-friendly corners, a naturist area and kitesurfing for the active sorts. Sandy San Peïre (15 minutes) and the wartime landing beach of Le Dramont (25 minutes) are other options – or you could get your finest kit on and head over to the swanky resorts of Saint Tropez and Cannes with a drive of an hour or so. Steering away from the sea for a bit, outings might include the zoo just outside Fréjus (15 minutes), the waterslides of Aqualand Fréjus (10 minutes) or evenings checking out all the rides – for kids and grownups alike – at Luna Park (10 minutes).
