With a location that’s both handy and spectacular – being 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth beaches and having views of the Osmington White Horse chalk figure – the pop-up Whitehorse Campsite is on a farm neatly tucked into a Dorset valley. On arrival, you'll need to check in at reception, where guests can buy ice cream and wood for open fires. The pitches are in spacious fields with the freedom to set up wherever you want; there’s no extra charge for large tents or gazebos. Campfires and barbecues are also permitted – but only off the ground and using firewood sold at reception. The whole vibe is very child-friendly, and there’s room for kids to run around and let off steam; dogs are welcome too (on a lead please), and there are canine-suitable walks from the pitches leading into the surrounding Dorset National Landscape. Spotless toilet and shower facilities are found at each end of the site as well as two separate washing-up areas, with drinking water taps nearby. Freezer blocks are available, and your mobiles and cameras can be charged at reception.

  • Op deze camping zijn hondenrassen/kruisingen die in de 'lijst met hoog-risico honden op agressief gedrag' zijn opgenomen, niet toegestaan. Denk aan de pitbullterriër en tosa, Argentijnse dog en fila brasileiro.

Ik was blij met Liked the area view space thought it be busier but happy it wasnt good showers and toilets couldn't find the 2nd lot was told about

Ik was niet blij met Couldn't find how to walk through to horse we parked to far from loo.
Expect noise from other campers but not children gone 11 and music gone 1am

Van de manager: We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us, we are at reception 9.am to 9 pm, or there is a phone number to ring. If you had asked we could have told you where the second lot of toilets and showers were. Also there is an easy way to walk to the top of the White Horse.
Please always ask if you need more information that is what we are here for, also any noise after 10.30 please ring and we will address it.

Ik was blij met value for money, decent toilets and showers, dishes sink, friendly staff, lots of free space, silent, away from noise of the main road, can do firepit and barbecues

Ik was niet blij met showers and some toilets don't n have lights, you must used logs for the firepit purchased at reception, there could be some lighting in the middle of the pitch (even garden solar lanterns) to indicate the way, so flash lights or head torch are must. no electricity at the pitch, so be prepared with power banks or solar charger, no bins on site, cars driving everywhere, there also could be planted some trees in the middle of the field and along the road, dividing the first pitch to 4 quarters, to give some shadow, more privacy and some interesting view, also a small cafe at the reception with a fresh cofee and basic necessities would be great, just a little advice.

Ik was blij met The most stunning location. Did not want to leave. No nonsense check in. All the facilities that are essential with no frills. Tonnes of space, lots of privacy. Bats, stars, stunning landscape. Defo coming back. 💚

White Horse Campsite is underneath the White Horse, visible on the right when travelling from Warmwell Cross Roundabout on the A353. The entrance is just before the blue Weymouth and Portland sign, also on the right. When travelling from the Weymouth direction, our entrance is visible on the left 100 yards after the Top Gear Weymouth garage.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Once you’re done admiring the Osmington White Horse (created in 1808), it’s time for a little gentle coastal exploration. The site is 10 minutes’ drive from Overcombe Beach, or you can walk a section of the South West Coast Path (five minutes’ drive) for views of the soaring limestone cliffs around National Trust-owned Ringstead Bay and Durdle Door. Family-friendly Weymouth (15 minutes) offers up golden sand on Preston Beach, colourful fish and comical penguins at the Sea Life Centre, and ever-changing sand sculptures at Sandworld. There’s also a skatepark for older kids and a couple of golf courses on the outskirts of town. Other days out could entail meeting the primates at Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (20 minutes), where there are daily keeper talks, or stepping back in time to the Middle Ages to explore the hilltop ruins of Corfe Castle (half an hour). The military-history buffs among you will probably welcome time pottering around the vintage tanks and World War II vehicles at The Tank Museum (also half an hour).
