Ik was niet zo blij met: Unfortunately after we had pitched our tent we found out that the neither the showers or the pot was facilities were working. I phoned the owners & they informed me they had sent me an email a week earlier offering either 25% off if we still wanted to stay or a full refund.
We didn't have the relaxing break we had planned for as it just made washing pots & having a wash yourself very difficult having to use bottled water to do this. Also the toilets barely worked.
You can't walk all of the woodland area as there are 2 gates saying no one is permitted in the rest of the wood, so all you can do is walk around the very small campsite.
They did supply bottled water but 25 litres of water to wash pots, use as drinking water & to use to have a wash with & between 2 pitches does not last long & was gone in less than 24 hours. So I had to text the camp owners as we had no water left, they did bring some more but all in all the whole mini break was spoilt & I had planned the break for myself & my partners 15th anniversary too.
They did refund me 50% of the cost of the holiday but that didn't make up for our little romantic anniversary break just being so stressful because of everything.

Van de manager: A little more information is important for this review. Unfortunately, 10 days before the end of our season, the water pump for the showers and pot wash broke down —an unforeseen issue that can sometimes happen. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to repair it in time. This left us with two choices: either cancel all bookings or inform our guests about the problem, offering a full refund, assistance with finding alternative accommodations, or, if they still wished to stay, a 25 - 50% discount on their booking. We felt it was only right to leave the decision in our guests' hands.

Sharon was informed about this on Monday 23rd September, with her stay starting on October 1st—eight days in advance, she decided she still wanted to stay with us and receive a 50% discount.

For those who chose to stay during this time, we provided sealed bottled water daily, given the circumstances. While it can be tricky to anticipate exact usage, we supplied seven 5-liter bottles daily (30-35 liters) for the four guests. Additionally, I texted Sharon to let her know that spare bottles were available under the sink if needed, which she acknowledged and thanked us for.

As for the other facilities, I personally checked and cleaned the toilets, and they were in working order. I even asked Sharon’s partner twice during their stay how everything was, and all feedback was positive and complimentary, with no mention of any issues.

It’s disheartening to receive this review as at points it's factually incorrect, especially as we work tirelessly to ensure a great camping experience for all our guests.
While certain factors were out of our control, we did try our best to accommodate Sharon under the circumstances.

Ik was blij met: Its a lovely spot, and just what I was looking for as a peaceful site. Considering it's an 'off-grid' site, the facilities were very good. The hosts were very accomodating. Definitely will be back.

Ik was blij met: We loved the woodland setting with our own individual pitch which was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. The facilities were amazing considering they are an off grid campsite. Hot showers and really clean toilets made it a comfortable stay. Owners were really friendly and on site everyday attending to jobs. Supplied environmentally friendly shower wash and washing up liquid which a nice touch. We’d definitely love to come back and stay here again.

Ik was blij met: We have just spent another wonderful night at the lovely barham woods. So peaceful, tranquil and just what we need after a busy week at work. The facilities are clean and hygienic with extra touches such as hand sanitizer, washing up liquid etc provided. So amazing to spend time in nature, feeding the birds and just chilling by the camp fire. Everyone we have met here including the owners, have been so friendly and welcoming.

Ik was blij met: Excellent location. Peaceful, tranquil and quiet. Facilities clean and exactly what is required. Have visited twice recently and will definitely be returning. Owners very accommodating. Easy to book and contactless check in. Fire kit is a lovely touch. Will be back soon.

Ik was blij met: Lovely private pitches, in a peacefully woodland setting.
Wheelbarrows were really helpful as cars aren't parked on pitches.
Lovely clean toilet facilities, flushable which was nice as it felt like wild camping with better facilities.
Showers with products available for use was a nice touch. Surprisingly warm water in shower.
The firepit on the pitch was a real deal breaker as the kids love a fire to make smores.

Ik was niet zo blij met: I was unsure if there was recycling facilities on site as we took our rubbish to the bin near the showers. My son says he thinks there was bins near car park. We recycle everything at home, so it felt weird throwing it all. So more obvious recycling facilities would be good.
Apologises if it was obvious..and I missed it!
It was great that our dog could come, but if an area could be made as an enclosed dog area that'd be great, as he had nowhere to run and burn off energy.

Ik was blij met: Very quiet, well organised, clean showers.
Owners very helpful, everything needed provided,especially as we wanted to stay extra night at short notice.

Ik was blij met: We travelled with our two dogs and stayed in our roof tent. The facilities were clean and nice. It was also a nice touch that there was organic shampoo and body wash to use.

It was a contactless check in but the owner attended in the evening to check the facilities and introduced himself which was really nice. The whole atmosphere of the site was friendly and safe.

There was also an option to order fire wood and a detailed email which included all of the information required for our stay. We thought this was very lovely and not what you usually get at sites!

Ik was niet zo blij met: The only negative was that we were assigned camper van pitch 1 which meant we were right by the main car park for the entire site. This meant that our pitch wasn’t very private as people were arriving, leaving or going to there car often. Camper van pitch 2 was also very close, which meant that when they arrived at around 11pm (after the check in time) they woke us up.

We would stay again but we would request a different pitch, or even consider bring a normal tent to use rather than our roof tent so that we could be more private.
