Established in 2021, High Hall Campsite gives you the opportunity to come and experience everything that makes Cumbria tick. Tucked away under the hills of the North Pennine fells and set deep in the gorgeous Eden Valley, this modern site is an excellent place to arrange a relaxed rural retreat. The grounds here are divided by Croglin Beck, a scenic stream that meanders its way through the middle of the site. There are plenty of waterside views around and the wildlife is abundant: red squirrels, roe deer, barn owls and kingfishers could be among the creatures you spot. There are also farm animals to admire and a well-stocked coarse fishing lake that guests can use free of charge. (Please note that a catch-and-return fishing policy is in place.) This Cumbrian campsite is fairly remote, but it's easy to drop by in Kirkoswald (three miles from base), an Eden Valley village with a hotel, pub, convenience store and ruined castle. High Hall Campsite is located on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding National Beauty. This secluded site would also make a good base for day trips to the Lake District, as the national park is approximately 30 minutes away by road.

  • Het wordt gasten geadviseerd om een zaklantaarn van goede kwaliteit mee te nemen, omdat delen van het terrein onverlicht zijn.
  • Reserveringen mogen uit maximaal 2 gezinnen bestaan.
  • Houd er rekening mee dat de toiletten/douches uniseks zijn.

Ik was blij met What a beautiful camp site. The sounds of the stream and a wonderful ramble up and down it just be careful of the slippery rocks.
The main showers were clean and powerful. Has access to a kitchen and washing machine as well as a small stocked fridge and freezer where you can buy some supplies. Will definitely be coming back.

Such a beautiful campsite with great facilities!…

Ik was blij met LOVED this campsite!
Peaceful, pretty site, lovely river near lots of pitches, the BEST facilities I've seen for a long time. A whole cow shed turned over to facilities of great showers (clean, great pressure, no time limit), washing machine and drier available, fridge and freezer, kettle, honesty shop for supplies and free tea coffee, and Table tennis! (Winner in my book!).
Really friendly family run this place and Fiona took the time to come and see we were OK each evening.
It was clear that this family have spent a lot of time, effort and money on setting up this campsite and it has paid off, as its just great without being too fussy👍.

The location is quiet, with empty lanes for cycling and footpaths to walk.

Ik was niet blij met Nothing to dislike

Pitches are well spaced out so you get plenty room and privacy.…

Ik was blij met Pitches are well spaced out so you get plenty room and privacy. Lovely and quiet, good showers and a kitchen up at the barn. Friendly and helpful owners.

Definitely recommend to other people to stay, looking at booking again

Ik was blij met Campsite was the right size and had a community feel.

Everything was positioned in the right places having toilets and showers down on the pitch as well as up the top of the hill.

The price for the turn length was worth the stay and very reasonable.

Ik was blij met We have been to high hall twice within the last month and absolutely love it, the facilities are great and everything you would ever need for a family holiday! Fiona the owner was fabulous, nothing was too much to ask. There are goodies to buy up in the barn with entertainment too, the compost toilets at the camp site are an experience to say the least! But all part of the camping experience! The camp site is very tidy and the firepits come in so handy! Not to mention that each plot has their own picnic table!

Ik was niet blij met The compost toilets although they are all part of the fun it is also enough to turn the strongest of stomachs but thank the lord for the main toilets in the barn! 😂
Location is quite a drive from penrith, the closest town but the peace and quiet was amazing.

Would highly recommend.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

There's a lot to see and do in the local area without venturing far: Kirkoswald Castle (10 minutes' drive) is well worth a visit, as are Lacy's Caves (15 minutes), a series of five sandstone chambers carved out by an eccentric 18th-century landowner. On a slightly grander scale, there are also ancient sites like Hadrian's Wall (20 minutes) and Birdoswald Roman Fort (35 minutes). If you're Lakeland bound, start off in Pooley Bridge (30 minutes), a pretty little waterside town where you can catch the Ullswater steamer service to gorgeous Glenridding at the other end of the lake. The market town of Keswick (45 minutes) on the shores of Derwentwater is easily accessible too – head here for boat hire, to browse an array of independent shops or to visit the Derwent Pencil Museum and learn about the local graphite industry. If you want to cover varied terrain, you're in the right place: this site is three miles down the road from the Coast to Coast cycle route (join at the bottom of Hartside Pass), and if you fancy dipping dipping your toe in the Yorkshire Dales it's easy to hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway 10 minutes down the road at Lazonby.
