For a quiet adults-only North Yorkshire stay far removed from the hurly burly of everyday life, Millfields Caravan and Camping is a tiny site tucked away in Brompton on Swale, a historic village mentioned in the Domesday Book. Peaceful it certainly is, yet there’s masses to do and see hereabouts. The lively market town of Richmond is 10 minutes’ drive away, with its photogenic Georgian architecture, museums, a castle and lots of entertainment options from cosy inns to chic restaurants. It’s also gateway to adventures in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and any keen racing fans among you have the choice of nine major racecourses: York is an hour’s drive, Wetherby 40 minutes, and Catterick a doddle to get to, being a mere five minutes away. And back on site, the manicured pitches look out over lush countryside (great for walking any dogs you've brought along), with simple facilities including showers and washing-up areas. If you choose to conjure up alfresco feasts on the barbecue, pick up essentials in the handy local shop, or you can always head to the village pub for a pint and a pie (both 10 minutes’ walk).

Ik was blij met We had an excellent stay at Millfields! They accommodated us last minute, were considerate as to which pitch we were allocated after a special accommodation request (this was easier as we booked for a Sunday night, which is why we chose this day) and the site is very neatly kept. The site is very peaceful, the toilet block is spotlessly clean and everything we needed was right there. We will definitely stay again before the season ends. Thank you!

Ik was blij met Site clean and tidy, loved the cows. Clear instructions on entry how to find your pitch. We had hard standing pitch which was s good size that had its own water and electric. Didn’t use the toilet block so can’t comment on its cleanliness but if it is kept the same as the site it will be clean.
Short walk to the pub and a shop that appears to sell everything.

Ik was blij met Very peaceful, good pitches, the new shower block is brilliant, immaculately clean, fabulous showers(must have spent 10's of 1000's). 10 mins from richmond and the same to Catterick racecourse.

Ik was niet blij met The shower curtains. Without wanting to sound petty the hosts have spent a fortune building a beautiful shower and toilet block and spent 50p on shower curtains.

Ik was blij met Stayed here for two nights in my campervan. Mainly used for sleeping and getting a shower as we were attending a wedding nearby so most of the time was spent there.
No issues at all though on the site. Peaceful nights sleep,and the facilities were really nice. Looks to be a brand new built shower/toilet block with red hot rainfall showers. There is also a block of shower/toilets in the field but we didn't use them.
Met the owner when leaving who was really friendly.
Also found it easy to find,whereas other reviews said they couldn't find it very easy.
Would definitely use this site again if passing by or in the area

Ik was blij met Pooly sign posted needs a sign at the end of the narrow road would be helpful.
Basic amenities not for me. Could do with updating. No wonder the place was empty. I will not return

Ik was blij met Brilliant quiet campsite, pitches are big. Lovely walk into Richmond via the Abbey. Campsite is well catered for. Showers and toilets. Washing up station. Short walk into the village for a pint. Brilliant.

Ik was blij met Gorgeous small campsite with well spaced out pitches. Very quiet. New toilet and shower block is stunning! Even the old green toilet/shower block was spotless. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Lovely walks from the site.

Ik was niet blij met Would be so helpful to have a plug socket / shelf/mirror in your new block so us girlies can dry our hair

Stroll directly from your pitch to the spectacular hilltop ruins of 12th-century Easby Abbey (40 minutes’ walk), or have a ramble along the River Swale to Richmond Castle and the pebble beach at Richmond Falls (both roughly an hour). And of course, there are hikes and cycle rides for all levels of ability in the Yorkshire Dales National Park (15 minutes’ drive). Head to Foxglove Covert Local Nature Reserve (20 minutes) for the chance to spy birds of prey and kingfishers in the moorland, meadow and wetland habitats, or if stately houses are on your agenda, combine exploring formal gardens and a lakeside park at Jacobean-era Kiplin Hall (10 minutes) with a tour of the mansion’s richly decorated rooms. The likelihood is you’ll adore fussing over the camels, llamas and ostriches at Mainsgill Farm Shop (15 minutes), where you can also tuck into a tasty cream tea. Should the weather turn against you, book tickets for blockbuster films at The Station or tour Richmond’s restored Georgian Theatre Royal (both 10 minutes), still with its original stage and seating.
