Ready for hols touring the East Anglian fens? There's plenty of scope for outdoorsy wanders at Bridge House Meadows – this peaceful adults-only Cambridgeshire spot is right in the middle of England's big sky country and surrounded by coastal plains. Jaunts to nearby cultural hubs can also be sorted – 'tis rare indeed to have two such fine historic cities on your doorstep, but at Bridge House Meadows you can visit Ely's ancient cathedral (15 minutes' drive) or Cambridge's punts, quads and colleges (25 minutes) and still be back in time for tea.  There's plenty to admire on site here, too – meadows, a woodland and river views all add up to a fine backdrop for stays at this quiet, back-to-basics park. Bridge House Meadows is all about restful stays in the open air (the fact that there are no noisy tots within earshot certainly helps with the restful part). This comely rural spot has a mix of habitats, so make sure to keep an eye out for visiting wildlife as you wander or take deckchair time.  The site keeps facilities low key so as not to detract from the wild surrounds, but it's easier than you might think to venture out to the outside world – this seemingly remote spot is about a mile and a half from the village of Stretham, where there's a pub, post office, basic food shop and takeaway. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on site.

Rustige, alleen voor volwassenen, met ruime, afgezonderde plekken. Vriendelijke eigenaren, mooie omgeving en wandelpaden bij de rivier. Beperkte faciliteiten (portapotti, wel heel schoon). Af en toe wat geluid van de weg, maar vooral rustig. Ideaal voor wie rust en privacy zoekt.

Ik was blij met Loved the peace, tranquility and space this site offers and enjoyed my shady pitch among the trees. If you like quiet and privacy in a very natural environment this may be the site for you.

Ik was blij met It's a very peaceful site. Suited us very well for our weekend away. We were met by the lovely owner on arrival 😊 we could choose where we wanted to set up. Very spacious. Nice walks around. Lovely big pond with water lillies. Canal river and a museum around the corner.
On Sunday before we left, four of the chickens came to visit us. They enjoyed sweetcorn and a tub of water. They rested under our caravan while we packed up to leave. This place was our 1st visit 4 years ago. So glad to have had another visit and will definitely be one to keep returning to 🥰

Ik was blij met I loved everything about this campsite, I can’t fault it! The owners are so friendly, they greeted me on arrival and explained where all the facilities are, they also checked in with me the following morning to check everything was ok.
I parked up in my own little secluded spot, I felt like I was wild camping on my own, it was beautiful!
The site was so quiet, all I could hear was birdsong, I even heard a woodpecker!
As a solo female camper this spot made me feel very safe and I had a wonderful time, couldn’t recommend more!

Ik was blij met Absolutely everything! The owners are so friendly & helpful. The site doesn’t have showers, but it does have the cleanest portaloo I’ve ever seen! If you don’t need ehu then head to the right hand side of the site towards the woods,where you will see the most incredible sunsets. The site also has direct access to the river ideal for kayaking,SUP & fishing.

Ik was blij met What an absolute gem this place is! We only came for 1 night but added an extra night because its our idea of perfect & we cycled to Ely Cathedral.The owners are so friendly & helpful, the 'pitches' are beautifully maintained in a totally natural setting amongst trees with plenty of wild flowers & a fabulous wildlife pond with 'paths' mowed into the grass & lovely little nooks to hide your motorhome in amongst the trees. We saw the most amazing sunset I've ever seen from our pitch & watched rabbits just in front of us, if we could have stayed longer, we would have.100% recommend to anyone who enjoys peace & tranquility in an adults only beautifully natural setting.

Ik was niet blij met Not disliked, but a little confused with the price. I could have read it wrong but I'm sure I saw £15 on the map yet we paid £42.50 for 2 nights which is a little over priced for the facilities as beautiful as it is. Also, could improve on chemical waste disposal

Ik was blij met We enjoyed the location of the site and the walk along the river bank was lovely.

Ik was niet blij met The lack of a shower was a problem for us and only one tap. We only stayed for one night because of this.

Ik was blij met Lovely quiet location with spots for camping spread around a combination of meadow with a pond and woodland giving a very natural feel (pitches with hook-up are in a line along a hedgerow). There is a portaloo which is kept very clean. A short cycle ride from the village, where there is a takeaway.

Lokale bezienswaardigheden

Cambridgeshire, as a rule, is a pretty flat place, so don't hesitate to bring your bike along on stays here – there's little chance of getting puffed out pedalling uphill. Riverside rambles are also on the cards: head south from the site along the river Great Ouse if you fancy strolling down to the pub at the Lazy Otter Marina (you can also drive there in about five minutes).  Nearby Ely (15 minutes) has its own waterside area, where restaurants, pubs and art galleries are spaced out along the river. After a spot of lunch, a cream tea or maybe just a bit of window shopping, wander down into town to admire the cathedral or explore Civil War history at Oliver Cromwell's House. There's also a popular market here on Thursdays and at weekends.  Cambridge (25 minutes) has a similar small-town vibe to Ely, but the city is also home to some world-class museums (if you're pressed for time, head to the Fitzwilliam). Green-fingered guests should also take the chance to explore Cambridge University Botanic Gardens and peruse some of the 8,000 plants on show.
