Ik was blij met Everything about the place great family run camp site everyone was friendly and in good spirits. Myself and Kids loved fishing just an all round good experience not even the weather dampened our spirits.

Ik was niet blij met Great facilities, but they desperately lack functionality. The shower and toilet blocks need way more shelving, wall hooks, and dry surfaces to place your clothes and toiletries while changing.

I was disappointed with the value for money here. I would expect a standard pitch fee to cover basic bathroom access, so having a separate charge for showers left a bit of a negative impression

A quick warning on location: the local pub is technically within walking distance, but the surrounding roads are very busy and lack pavements. It is definitely not a walkable or safe route, especially with children, so you will need to drive

Ik was niet blij met Others guests not understanding correct arrangement for pitch, i understand that it can be a little confusing sometimes, but to be over half way on to the next pitch is not really acceptable as it made everyone else's pitch much smaller and bunched up. Needs to be more fresh water points.

Ik was blij met Pitches are flatish. Showers were clean ish.
Kids playmates is great. Lots of open space for kicking about. Shop is reasonably stocked.

Ik was niet blij met So many rules. Train noise. Fishing lake dominated by visiting angling club and no fishing after 5.00pm

Ik was niet blij met Train track wasn’t mentioned on website, noise from that was constant. Didn’t have any £1 coins to be able to use the showers.

Ik was blij met We stayed for 2 nights at Carney Pools on a non-electric pitch. Beautiful site, plenty of space and we were able to park by the pitch.

It was our first time camping and it was a really enjoyable experience. The staff are very friendly, helpful and take a lot of care over the site.

The shower/toilet block was very clean and had good facilities. We had a minor issue with the showers (coin went in but no power) but this was due to some else on site using a trolley token instead of a £ coin, so not the site's fault. The issue was rectified within an hour and I had a full refund for the coins I'd used. Disappointing someone would try to scam the site for 5 minutes of water, especially when the facilities are so nice.
Dishwashing area was really helpful, especially with the motion detector lights for washing up after evening meals.

We had our own fire pit and bought extra wood from the shop (£7.99 for a bag).

We didn't use the play park (much to my partner's annoyance) but the kids on site seemed to really enjoy it. There's so much space on the site that we felt like we had the field to ourselves, despite there being 3 or 4 caravans and a couple of other tents.

The glamping tent looked beautiful and is tucked away in the corner of the field with a private seating/garden area.

We took a walk round the fishing pools on the first evening. They were really pretty, peaceful spots. My partner had brought his fishing stuff with him, but there was a match on the 2 main lakes so he gave it a miss. Pegs were well maintained, airaters on the water so fish care is clearly a high priority. The site supply landing nets to prevent any risk of disease transmission.

All in all, a wonderful time.

Ik was niet blij met Outside of the toilets smelled of sewerage on our last day, no water when we first arrived, shower facilities (2 in each male/female toilet block) were £1 for 5mins, train track right next to site and freight trains ran through the night (very noisy when trying to sleep), visitors cars charged £10 to visit even if only there an hour, fishing £12 extra/day (and no one caught anything - fishing competition in main pools, so had to use the small exposed pool) and pools only open 8-5, when most people fish when it’s cooler 5-8pm. Also pools right next to train line so not relaxing!). Staff also treated people as if they were simply a nuisance and quite grumpy - one shouted at our visitors to pay as soon as they arrived, so came across as quite money-grabbing.
