Planned to walk around the lake up to Castle Howard for our visit, however the route is blocked by a large locked gate with barbed wire, better sign positing needs to be put in place if they are not going to allow this walking route to be used.

Our reception team are on hand daily to help and can show you the best way to go. We always advise against trying to climb over or go around any barbed wire. Guests are restricted from walking all round the lake because there is a charge for entry to the gardens as they are part of the visitor attraction. All visitors need to go in the main entrance to show/buy their ticket, however you can enjoy lovely views across The Great Lake of Castle Howard. We will pass your feedback on to the relevant teams.
