Non mi è piaciuto: This site is part of the Castle Howard estate but the access to Castle Howard is appalling. In theory the estate could provide access for campsite guests via the lakeside path but they don't - so the access on foot is a 1.5m walk (well over 45mins with young children). Really disappointing oversight considering what they could make of this.
Many thanks for your feedback. It's great to know you enjoyed our site in our beautiful location and our newly opened on-site shop. Guests are restricted from walking all round the lake because there is a charge for entry to the gardens as they are part of the visitor attraction. All visitors need to go in the main entrance to show/buy their ticket, however you can enjoy lovely views across The Great Lake of Castle Howard. Many of our guests enjoy the walk to the Castle Howard Estate but if you choose to come again and feel it's too far for the children to walk, there is always the option to drive with free parking at Castle Howard.
